So I made this bet with a very cocky friend to play 1v1 in bball for $200. The thing is, I'm not as good as him so all I gotta do is drop 2 buckets whilehe has to drop 11. I think I can do this, but I feel he will use his weight to his advantage... he is 5'8 185lbs and I'm 5'10 140lbs

I'm pretty sure all he's gonna do is post me up until he's close to the basket, clear out with an elbow to give himself some space, and just dropit in. Anyone know the best way to counter this? Maybe pulling the chair?

Also, I'm thinking of just dribbling and pulling up for some jumpers to score my 2, maybe take it to the hole for a lay-in if I can get him with my firststep. What do you guys think? Any tips?

Assuming that you're faster than him, he'll play loose on you.

Fake right, go back left, and pull up from free throw range, or just pull up from wherever you feel comfortable from 10+ feet out.

After that, he'll respect your jumpshot. Then fake the pull up once you check it, he'll hesitate, then go around him for an easy layup.

either your friend is fat as @#$% or should be a RB in theNFL

if hes fat just use his lack of speed to your advantage...either way you only have to drop 2 buckets to win. if you cant even dribble the ball you can justshoot 3s in his face every time you get the ball and end up winning

5'8 185 Pro running back? naw doggie you gott be like 200 to just run in college now adays.

You can totally do this. Well, I'm guessing you are capable and have played your share of ball in your time as has he. You should be way quicker than himso I would drive to the bsket and shoot short jumpers because I'm pretty sure he'll clobber you if you try to go all the way. Short floaters are theway to go because once he gets moving, it'll be hard to stop on a dime. Defending him, yea he'll post you up and *$$-bump you all the way to the holebut make him tired and try pulling the chair after a couple of times he tries that and you have a little bit of height on him and should distract him fairlyeasily no matter what shot he has. Good luck man

yeah my BMI is 18.. not a good look. i recently got a gym membership and have been seeing some good results though. been taking my protein as well the pastweek. but obviously this factor was taken into account when we made our bet.

You're obviously gonna lose if you have to ask. You're 2 inches taller than him and you're gonna let him post you up 11 times. BEAT THAT !%@#. Andwhen you get the ball, cross his fat %%+ over and get a layup.

at that height all that weight better be muscle.

play better defense.

...and if you can't make two baskets go train with that kid who got cut from JV and cried on NT.

Don't let him get position on you in the post, use your height to an advantage, pump fake; but most importantly, don't get caught in the post

butdon't plan how you're going to win, just take what he gives you during the game and play the game as it comes. Planning out a basketball game

just do a jab step, shoot, sink it

then

jab step, he will jump, then drive by him

make the layup

game over

so you only gotta make 2 points/shots?

trying backing him down while you're under the rim.

or try to find a opening and shoot.

thank you all for the kind and harsh advice. the games next thurs (turkey day) so i will update you all on how it goes.

just dribble in circles until his fat %++ is dead tired....then drive past him for pump fake layups all day

when he tries to post you up..give him your frail %++ elbows to the ribs when he goes to shoot...<Gucci Mane>Bricks <Gucci Mane> all day

You Win

Man, that sounds like an easy win. My friend is 5'8" and 180 lbs, while I am practically the same as you but slightly lighter at 137-138 lbs, and Irun circles around my friend.
No way in hell you should lose, you should be able to make 2 baskets before he makes 11 without a problem.
Start practicing your jump shots now and don't even let him score.

As for defense, try and go for the steal before he gets to the post, you should be able to get at least one steal in the 11 possessions he needs to score 11points.
