im just curious as to what the 1st song you learned how to play was, and what is a good song for a beginner.  playing music doesnt exactly come natural to me, but its a goal of mine to learn the guitar and i REALLY want to try to teach myself. anything you can tell me would be great!

i think Smoke On The Water and Come As You Are are pretty much Guitar 101. learn to read tabs and take it from there.

1st (and only

) song I learned to play was Optimistic by Radiohead. Great sounding song thats easy to learn.

Me and a couple of my friends picked up guitar around the same time and they are way better than me because they practiced all the time. Dont be afraid to do those meticulous little practice drills. Practice and repetition is key to playing guitar.

I should pick it back up while I'm in between jobs

the first song i learned was crazy train. it took forever to learn. lol. i wish i would've started off on an easier song.  some of the songs that are in the top 100 tabs on ultimate guitar are simple songs that you can learn in a week.  i suggest learning basic chords since that's the foundation for all songs.  what kind of music are you into? btw, anything by taylor swift is real easy to learn. lol.
