Its a statistics class....

Random sample of 30 Spring Chinook smolt were sampled and weighed here are the weight in grams

14,19,19,15,16,12,16
16,12,12,12,14,15,12
13,16,13,14,14,15,14
16,14,12,18,16,15,11,18

A. Estimate the population variance and standard deviation from the sample data.

B. Estimate the quartile values

Thanks for the help!!!

Just put everything in your graphing calculator and you'll find what you need. Look up on how to use it because you'll have to learn eventually and thesooner the better.

Passed the AP course my senior year with a 95 and now i'm here in community college taking Elementary algebra

What happened to that homework thread that was made like a month ago?

I did this in literally 30 seconds...

> data=c(14,19,19,15,16,12,16,16,12,12,12,14,15,12,13,16,13,14,14,15,14,16,14,12,18,16,15,11,18)
> var(data)
[1] 4.82266

> sd(data)
[1] 2.196056

> summary(data)
Min. 1st Qu. Median Mean 3rd Qu. Max.
11.00 13.00 14.00 14.59 16.00 19.00

Up to you to show your work though.

I used a statistics program called "R"

How about you actually study the rudiments of statistics. Trust me it is will be one of the most powerful items at your disposal. If you know how to simplyread regressions, you can compile source after source and spend a lot less time researching in the future. With a little more training you can also find waysto cast doubt on any statistic used in an argument.

What amazes me is that 75% of the people coming in here to say no, probably don't know how to do it. Including me.

I'm going to be learning that stuff next semester in AP Probability/Statistics probably. Wish I could help OP.

Variance[{14, 19, 19, 15, 16, 12, 16
16, 12, 12, 12, 14, 15, 12
13, 16, 13, 14, 14, 15, 14
16, 14, 12, 18, 16, 15, 11, 18}]

StandardDeviation[{14, 19, 19, 15, 16, 12, 16
16, 12, 12, 12, 14, 15, 12
13, 16, 13, 14, 14, 15, 14
16, 14, 12, 18, 16, 15, 11, 18}]

Put those in Mathematica and you're set, no pun intended.

Thanks you guys.. its just I got stuck doing a paper and just dont wanna do the computations..
