So basically something is wrong with my car, and me or my dad cant figure out what it could be.
(I barley know anything about cars so bare with me while i try and explain whats going on)

There's an oil leak coming from the engine and when i press on the gas there is literally no power when im driving.
I get to like 10-20 mph and then the engine just starts revving, the car doesn't accelerate.
Its an automatic and it kinda seems like the car isn't shifting gears when its suppose to.
And when the car does eventually shift, its really jerky.

Basically its lacking power when i step on the gas, so i guess thats my main problem

Any suggestions on what the problem could be??

Have you checked the oil measurement? It could be the problem.

The shifting probably has to do with the transmission. You have to get it checked out, without seeing it it's hard to tell.

Its a '94 Geo Prizm

Yea we've checked the oil measurements and its fine

AND ALSO..

When i step on the gas there is smoke coming from underneath the car,
but i couldn't tell where it was coming from because its dark outside
Im guessing but its kinda behind the front axle...

1. CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID <---- I THINK THIS IS YOUR MAIN PROBLEM

2. check oil
3 Check Radiator Fluids
  • never uncap the radiator cap while the car is hot or warm; uncap before you crank
  • crank the car (while radiator cap is off) look in the hole and watch for bubbles (if you have bubbles then you either have a cracked head or cracked headgasket
check back lemme know

I think your ****** is shot. Also, the oil may be you transmission fluid.

Does the car ever just stall?

Nah the car never stalls,
unless that has to do with the car not accelerating? like i said in the begging of my thread

I'm also thinking its the transmission. This could be costly...and if it is too costly. Time to let it go and purchase a newer more reliable whip.

says the guy who's INSIDE on niketalk to ask about his car instead of goin to a mechanic

you have a slipping clutch. since it's auto it won't be as easy to change the clutch disk with new. (don't even know if you can change clutch on aAT).

but yea i would just get rid of it and find a new used replacement.

also changing the ****** fluid might either do more harm than good. (trans flush) because it might be so gunked up in there that by flushing it out all thatwas held on together by the gunk will start to break down and make things worse. same with high mileage engines that weren't kept in good conditoin and isbeing held on by carbon build up.

Man, check ya transmission fluid level
Probably have a major crack in ur oil pan
No power, stalling is associated w/ no power getting to the engine
Check the oil lines to make sure their's no air or blockage (when's ur last oil and filter change?)
And last but not least, ur plugs and cables are old or improperly installed. And if the were just installed then they may not have been gapped right.

I had the same problem with a taurus, first it started with the mounts then the transmition, and it finished like yours did. Just let it r.i.p because most ofthe time a rebuilt would not last you very long

Sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Check all of the vacuum hoses very carefully.

You need to go to an AutoZone as well. Ask the guy behind the counter to scan your car for any check engine codes and they will go outside to your car and doit for free. Should only take a couple minutes and it will tell you the exact trouble codes so you can fix the problem correctly.
