What are some experiences with the Cliq? is MOTOblur cool? any way to root/hack it? and most importantly, Can it tether? please serious answersppl....and Ninjahood dont suggest that damn N900 or Sidekick LX crap.

Dont do it to yourself, better off with a mytouch 3g & put a different rom on it

^ yeah thats what im thinking...my main thing is customization, hacking and tethering....something to where i wont get bored so fast.

this chick i know swears by it. everything is good except the touch screen acts funny sometimes and the battery life is weak

but then inst that nexus one coming in a few weeks? id rather see about that

Definitely wait for the Nexus One, unless you absolutely need a physical keyboard.

This is what I wrote in my Motorola Cliq Thread last month. Since then I've had 2 different phones on3 different carriers. I now have the Bold 9700. Nobody else in NT will give you the info you asked for...they will come in with their opinions....you askedabout the Cliq, well here is some info.

This phone does a lot of stuff VERY well. The screen is super responsive and bright and the colors and fonts pop out so very clear. Typing on the touch screen is so good that you rarely even have to use the slide out keyboard....but if you do ever use the keyboard you will notive how tactile it is. The camera though lacking a flash is very nice, takes good clear pictures up to 5MP.

It is very customizable, with widgets, wallpapers and themes. Android Market has TONS of apps and most of them are free. The CLiq comes preinstalled with Imeem player as well as Shazam. The google maps app with compass is very useful. The music player sounds awesome...The Moto-Blur social networking feature should wins some awards with how it integrates your FB, Myspace, Twitter, Picasa, and even Last.fm.

The built in calendar has amazing functionality that synchs with your job's MS Exchange as well as FB, Google, and others. Your contact list is integrated with your gmail and FB contact list.

It has GPS, WiFi, very fast 3G, and Stereo Bluetooth. Voice dialing and voice command built in. The battery is sufficient for all day usage. You do not have to remove the battery to access the micro-SD card slot...which it supports up to 32GB.

This does everything the iPhone does, but better, more customizable, and very attractive.

For reference purposes I have an iPhone and a Blackberry Bold. I also own the newest version of the MacBook Pro (and also a Unibody MacBook) , so I do respect and appreciate Apple products, but I had to be honest with this assessment. With that being said it isn't a capability issue with the iPhone, because we see what it can really do when jailbroken..it is just APL crippling the iPhone for whatever reason. Anyway I predict that within 2 years Android will be the Mobile platform in front.

^Damn.... I was really set on getting an iPhone.. but I think I'll go check out the Cliq now...

I just traded my TP2 for a cliq. the only upside id say for me with the switch is android. i never had an android phone and i really like it. the things youcan do are crazy. all the apps or most are free. like zoom gp said, the battery last for a day but its good about alarming you of low power. and he mentionedthe screen sensitivity is not that bad but at times it is kinda slow to respond.

edlerwatson touched on the screen reso. its clear as heck. images even look good when browsing NT.

Im kinda bummed out just a little on this phone cause its not the power house the tp2 was minus andriod( even though they are working on a android port icouldnt wait)

I guess what im tryin to say is at the end of the day if i can put the android os from the cliq on a tp2 then im fetty.

Honestly, I wouyld wait for the Nexus One or HD2.
The Cliq has been rooted but there are no ROMs for it.
