I'd also reccomend the harry potter series.

I had no interest harry potter up until senior year of HS.

I read the first book for a bunch of ar points(points for reading and being quizzed).

Short story even shorter.

I read all the books in about a month.

I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell- Hilarious read, not every educational tho.

The 48 Laws of Power - Must read book for anyone striving to better themselves as a human being in anything they do. That book can teach you how to rule the world.

I love all Hunter S. Thompson books, just always enjoyed his Gonzo writing style. Don't read "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" first either. Read some of his other books. Just amazon them, they are all great IMO.

Dan Brown's book are good (Lost symbol, Da vinci code, angel & demons, etc.)
Eric Emmanuel-Schmitt (The Alternative Hypothesis, The Gospel According to Pilate, Noah's Child, etc.)
Henning Mankell (Faceless Killers, The Dogs of Riga, The Fifth Woman, etc.)

If you are into vampire books- The Strain by Chuck Hogan and Guillermo DelToro was a really good read/trilogy
I have been enjoying the Dexter series but I have not watched the show so most of it is new to me.
The Lincoln Lawyer was also really enjoyable, a few books with that character as well I really liked.
Bleachers by John Grisham was a good quick read as well.

Interpretations of Dreams - Sigmund Freud

Civilization and it's Discontents - Sigmund Freud (forgive me, I'm freudian.)

Eye Witness Testimony - Elizibeth Loftus

The Psychopath Test - Jon Ronson

I found Kite Runner to be a pretty good book as well.
