There may be some hope for closure…

According to Deadline, here is the deal with Heroes. As of right now, there are three scenarios on the show's future.

* Scenario 1: Cancellation. There is a real chance that NBC cancels the show with no resolution.

* Scenario 2: A 13-episode run, to begin mid-season. Creator Tim Kring is hoping for this scenario.

* Scenario 3: A mini-series style ending, featuring 2, 4 or 6 episodes, to be played over 2-3 nights. The 6-episode possibility would just be to finish up the story next fall, as basically an extension of this season.

At this time there seems to be zero hope that NBC would change their mind and produce a 22-episode season. The show's ratings are down, but the show is still very profitable for NBC. Heroes currently brings in the highest international sales of any of NBC's primetime series. It is also the network's top downloaded show overseas. The show is also a big DVD seller both domestically and internationally. Unfortunately for Heroes, NBC is looking to re-brand the network with new shows from J.J. Abrams, Jerry Bruckheimer, and David E Kelley. While Heroes is considered a big brand, it doesn't fit in with the planned re-branding.

edit: Sounds like they wanna be a real channel all of the sudden. Right now, they stand the best chance out of the Big 4 of falling back into a cable channel. They're that bad at what they do.
