it's the "we're right and you're wrong so you're either with us or against us" attitude....

Furthermore, I travel to places and see some Americans and it's been embarrassing at times, not always, but sometimes. Complaining about other cultures' way of life, being loud and obnoxious, etc. If I'm noticing it and am embarrassed for people from my own country, how do you think other people feel? Not to mention, why travel and complain the whole time about how it's not the same?
i've seen this. i know people that are like this. they go abroad, complain how somewhere foreign is not like america.... it's like goingto someone else's home and acting/expecting like it's your own and complaining how it's not accommodating enough for your preferences/needs. andthen on the flip-side, when visitors come here, americans expect them to assimilate to american culture.

"I wonder what South America would look like," Bond wonders aloud to CIA agent Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright), "if the United States hadn'tbeen so afraid of 'Coco-Communism.' I've always been impressed with the way you guys carved things up down here." Felix quickly replies,"Coming from a Brit, I'll take that as a compliment."

Like Wawaweewa said, people have short memories.
There may be some sibling rivalry and cultural competition but certainly no hate.
I don't see how you can say that.

I think I might be the first to point out that "why do people hate the US?" is a completely broad and nonspecific question with an incredibly complexand multi-faceted answer.

There are many, many people out there in the world who dislike the US, and it's probably for all different reasons. Some probably disagree with our foreignpolicy, some may have jealous feelings toward our economic prosperity, and others might just be force-fed anti-American propaganda from their governments.

There's no single answer to this question.... unless you make your question more specific.

I compare it to being raised by a strict house-hold with tough traditional/ religious policies while watching the kids down the street playing, talking, spending money, doing drugs, laughing, and havin sex....l0l. it just sucks so instead of admitting you want what they have, you just say "stupidneighbors!!"....

cause we're international bullies, always picking on other countries. making them adhere to rules that we don't follow ourselves. the int'lcommunity sees us as money hungry, bullish, selfish hypocrits and rightfully so, all thanks to our leaders/gov't.

Some people may not think so, but calling the country "America" instead of "The United States" is seen as arrogant/elitist in parts ofSouth America and North America. We had a speaker at my high school who told us about a man in Brazil who asked the speaker why he isn't considered anAmerican. He lives in Brazil, in South America, so isn't he American?

One thing I don't really like about the country is how fortunate we are to have education, yet so many U.S. citizens know nothing about the world outsideof the U.S., or even inside the country for that matter.

Ignorance, arrogance, selfishness...the list goes on and on.

seriously, because we are fatter than everyone else...... true story though...
