Ok I know there are some i.t guys on ntalk. Hopefully this thread helps me and others.


I'm running windows seven off of a newer hp, 7 came standard. While my physical memory is low, my CPU usage is very high, between 90-100%. Is there anyway that I can cut that down to the normal 8%?


FYI I wanted to post my question in red, but couldn't figure it out how to post in red fro
my iPhone.

I suggest you get more RAM because windows 7 uses 1.5-2 Gigs of RAM just to run all normal operations (sit idle). then stack whatever programs you are running both actively and in the background, you're bound to max out if you are using the RAM that comes stock with your system. if you cant afford new ram or dont have the time to get some more, i suggest you close any programs that you dont need to free up some memory. uninstall them if you dont need them .

I'm currently running off 6 gb of ram. There has to be a program or virus that is running way more CPU space then it should.
