I've come to the conclusion that leasing isn't for me.
I dont need the allure of a new whip

I leased a 2014 explorer for 3 years because I was about to have my first child born. We just needed a family style car that' can carry everything we needed, including babysitters. But when the lease is up my girl will probably lease another but ill purchase a new car

How do yall deal w/ cosmetics w/ leasing? That's one of my main concerns is having somebody scratch the car up while I'm leasing.

They expect you to return the vehicle with acceptable wear and tear which differs from manufacture to manufacture. Acceptable wear and tear doesn't mean perfect and often times small scratches, etc are usually considered normal wear and tear.
Towards the end of the lease you are required to have your car inspected by a third party that the manufacturer hires. They will give you an inspection report that details all of wear and tear that are not within allowable limits. You can choose to get the items repaired on your own before you are required to return the car or you can turn it in and let the manufacturer charge you later (Terrible idea). Assuming you want to get another car with the same manufacturer, some dealers will actually accept your current leased vehicle as a trade in on on a new leased vehicle which will prevent you from being held responsible for any damage to the vehicle in excess of normal wear and tear.

Oh, ok, that's clutch. I've been seeing great leasing deals on the Acadia but didn't know how it would work w/ the wear and tear. I need to get rid of my Suzuki though. Car's only worth $2k max and still have $6k to pay on it. doesn't help that Suzuki pulled out of the U.S.

Not sure how leases work exactly but you can be upside down on a lease? I thought you just pay a set amount for like 36 months then return the car.

Don't worry about it my dude. Normal wear and tear usually isn't a problem unless a person totally neglects their vehicles. The only aspect of normal wear and tear that gets most people is when it relates to tires. If you have a lease of three years or more, either get a set of snow tires or summer tires to swap out during the year or be prepared to buy a new set of 4 at lease end. My first lease was a 2010 G37xs Special Edition and I leased that car for 4 years. At the end of my lease, I had to purchase a new set of tires (must match the oem tires as far as speed rating and the like) before I turned it back in.

Try looking at Edmunds lease forums. People are generally very helpful with sharing information. I think bmw also has some forums run by owners that might be helpful.
