Nuclear Explosions 1945-1998

I wouldn't be suprised if this is why cancer is so prevalent nowadays. All of these nuclear explosions  have to have an effect on the atmosphere.

I saw this awhile ago on gizmodo it's quite disturbing how bad the Cold War could have been if an actual conflict happened between the USA and USSR

I'm pretty sure the govt did have to payout a bunch of money to a lot of residents of Utah in the 50's/60's due to nuclear testing done at the Nevada Test Site (where the large majority of US testing was done). The people in Utah who received money were considered "downwinders" of the testing and had much higher instances of sickness. Area 51 had to be evacuated/everyone brought indoors a few times as well due to the testing since the Nevada Test Site and Area 51 essentially share a huge plot of land.
