So, today I received my acceptance letter for the RN program at the school I go to. I was just wondering if anyone else is currently enrolled or has beenenrolled in a RN program. What were your experiences? What was the most difficult thing about the program? This might be a reach, but hopefully there are acouple of people on here that can give me a little insight on what to expect.

well considering there are a ton of Filipino on here someone should be able to help you

Is it the Bachelors or the Masters? My cousin finished her Bachelors at Columbia. She worked for a year and is now returning to complete the Masters. Anotherclose friend of mine got her Bachelors at Seton Hall. They both love their jobs.

Congrats.

oh hello i like to brag. you now what your gettin into homie. dont front

I don't know but I hope this bump will get you more responses. And congrats

MS, BS, AS...it doesnt matter. at any level, you will have to study hard, stay focused, and manage your time well. hard is really all subjective. if youre goodat math (like my wife ,who got a 100% on the portion of the HESI entrance exam) then pharmacology would be easier then to most. complete as many pre-reqs aspossible before the program so you could dedicate ALL your time on studying the bulk.

get a iPhone or iPod touch and download the book. apply for grants, scholarships, and financial assistance if you qualify so that you could suport yoruself. mywife was able to score a 32gb iPod touch with all the nursing apps, etc because she applied for a scholarship and received it. sacrifice. think about it, whenyou pass in a couple of years you have the potential to make six figures easily.

go to tutoring (if they offer it) even if you are doing well in the program. its extensive - but its up to you if you really want it.

i heard it takes forever and is really hard.

i knew someone and it took them like 4 years to complete.
i think it would be good for you to try to get surgical tech experience because they basicly do everything a nurse does but the don't get the title/pay

but since you already got in goodluck. i heard the hardest part is the "big" test they have to take at the end. sorry my input is kinda vague but itsall i know...

ill also add another thing. why would someone want to be into surgical tech when that is probably not going to be their emphasis? after your first semester inthe program, you are pretty much a CNA and thats the bette experience.

4 years is quite possible because of all the pre-reqs that have to be done prior to applying (in this case, ill use a junior college - 2 year program to becomea nurse) aside from that, there is about a year wait at a minimum if youre lucky before getting in after youve completed those courses.

i think the biggest thing is application. not only do you have to retain the information but you have to carry on what youve studied since day one so cheatingwill pretty much do you NO good.

Murse checking in. I got into a nursing program out of high school, got my ASN after 2 years.

I'll keep it simple.
STUDY A LOT.
KEEP FOCUSED.

People have different experiences with it, but all agree it's a hard/difficult program all together.

do nurses have fix hours like a typical 9 to 5, or do they work crazy hours like doctors.

nursing school is crazy I'm currently in the program and it's a lot of studying. You really got to stay motivated because honestly sometimes I feltthis !$%# will break you down mentally, but you really just have to be strong. Honestly with all this studying you have to find some time for yourself likegoing to the gym or something like that nursing will drive you crazy. Seriously enjoy your sleep now because during the program ill go through nights whereI'll get hardly any sleep. People always tell me to work in study groups, but find a study habit that works for you. I've gotten good grades withoutstudying in groups. Honestly the struggle is all worth it. Good luck

i jsut got in the nursing program at cypress college. i finished my first semester.

it was pretty easy. i was still able to go out every other night and kick it with the homies for a lil bit.

its a lot easier if you really want to be a nurse for reasons aside money. because then youre able to retain the information more since youre interested in it.

just study a lot and make sure you finish everything you have to do before you give yourself some free time to play.

the free time helps to keep your mind sane.

Good to hear that. Everyone I've talked to so far says that having a study group is essential, but I've always done better studying bymyself. I guess I'll see once I start.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the advice; it's definitely appreciated. And for those who've asked, it's an Associate's Program.

Pharmacology is crazy difficult too. theory is kinda hard, conversions is pretty easy, dose calculations is kinda hard as well. stay focused

are you going into an ADN or BSN program? if its ADN get ready to work.. you kinda have to give up a lot of things, but in the end it all pays off. also dontget caught up in the drama of other classmates!
