whoever at dodge thought this was a good idea, smfh

If you want to be important—wonderful. If you want to be recognized—wonderful. If you want to be great—wonderful. But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. (Amen) That's a new definition of greatness. And this morning, the thing that I like about it: by giving that definition of greatness, it means that everybody can be great, (Everybody) because everybody can serve. (Amen) You don't have to have a college degree to serve. (All right) You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don't have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don't have to know Einstein's theory of relativity to serve. You don't have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. (Amen) You only need a heart full of grace, (Yes, sir, Amen) a soul generated by love. (Yes) And you can be that servant.

btw, the OG speech also contains this:

Now the presence of this instinct explains why we are so often taken by advertisers. You know, those gentlemen of massive verbal persuasion. And they have a way of saying things to you that kind of gets you into buying. In order to be a man of distinction, you must drink this whiskey. In order to make your neighbors envious, you must drive this type of car. (Make it plain) In order to be lovely to love you must wear this kind of lipstick or this kind of perfume. And you know, before you know it, you're just buying that stuff. (Yes) That's the way the advertisers do it.

Dodge and Ram aren't da same brand anymore....(Ram got spun off years ago....)

I don’t know how to feel about it honestly
The message and the commercial and images just don’t seem to match

Yup own brand since 2011
Don’t know too many black folks
that drive a ram truck though
My down south and Midwest may be different

If someone has a problem with Trump shouting out MLK while he tries to undo civil rights enforcement all over the country, and white people trying to disregard valid concerns of racism with their "MLK would not have wanted this" steez. Then they should have a problem with this.

Because it is the same type of energy.

What u mean y’all :nerd:
no person in particular. and if you're trying to imply a racial angle, i'm black too.

if no one references any civil rights heroes during black history month, social media erupts. a company makes a heartfelt attempt and people (i'm guessing) feel it's disingenuous. seem like people just like to be mad and nitpick.

it'll blow over by da morning...those angry hashtags aren't trending whatsoever.

Its not gonna go make me buy a ram truck, i don't even like trucks or even american cars tbh

But i get it. I'm not mad, but i can see why it can get people riled up. However don't get riled up for the wrong reasons. Why give yourself high blood pressure or a heart attack over a car commercial.

so a group of ppl using a speech by a civil rights icon that they more than likely would have never ever ****** with when he was alive (and if they're old enough probably did not **** with him at all) uses a speech by said icon to sell cars and ppl aren't supposed to be upset?

mlk in general has been watered down to make ppl feel comfortable. thats already bad but using his voice to sell cars??
i don't buy that paying homage ****. at all.

Advertisers don't deserve points for attempting to tug at the heart strings

They are trying to sell trucks...that's it...they don't give a damn about being genuine

"In the years leading up to his assassination, the preacher and civil rights activist was less popular than ever. A 1966 Gallup poll found that almost two-thirds of Americans had an unfavorable opinion of Dr. King and a third had a positive opinion, a 26 point unfavorable rate increase from 1963."

Dodge and Chrysler are such trash brands. My company is ending our contract this year with them for our company Cars since our sales team cars are consistently in the shop.

Shame too cause I actually liked the design of the Jeep grand cherokee

Yup... People have to understand that its not personal, it is business. They also have to understand and safeguard themselves that in business, as long as you don't kill anyone, you get a pass( so its a free-for-all on deceit, theft, etc ).
