Anyone on NT went through one of the service OCS? I'm currently speaking to the USMC about doing their OCS upon graduation from college. I haven'tsigned anything yet and I won't until I make a final decision. I already have a workout regiment planned for the winter until I graduate just in case Itake this step. I was wondering if anyone can offer any insight as to what they went through and what would they advise. Thanks.

remember that thread i made not long ago about life being boring?

i was thinkin about USMC also...............i might just be goin thru some #(&$ i dunno.

I don't care about sex. That's not why I want to do it. I actually wanted to go into the Corps out of high school but my parentswouldn't allow it and I was not a legal adult at the time of HS graduation.

If you want to make a career out of being an officer you need to be good at politics. I was enlisted Army so that's probably the most insight I can give.

lazy b may i ask how far off from graduation are you? reason is, being that you are already in school you could possibly join marine rotc there and commissionwhen you graduate

I graduate in 6 months. My school doesn't have Marine ROTC, Navy ROTC or Air Force ROTC (last graduating class was in May). They are slowlybut surely phasing out ROTC at the university.

Do you mean picking sides and trying to get in ones favor?

I'm not in the Corps so I cant really give you anything "real"..

but i have two close friends that are in the USMC..and one of them just graduated OCS in the Summer of 08. If you have any questions, shoot me a PM and illgive you their email address. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help you out with any questions.

Bump cuz i know we got a few membera in the armed forces. Im also thinking about joining when i graduate in two years.

dog im in the marines, 1/1 a company out in camp pendleton. im lookin to go to MECEP to get into OCS, but if u got USMC then ask me, i can tell u pretty muchanything. just dont join and be a POG....

I went through the PLC program(Marines). +%%% sucked I wont lie but it isn't all that bad. Pretty much they gauge your leadership ability in your case itwill be for 10 weeks. Tons of PT (you PT like 5 days a week) and I can't speak as far as the OCC program which is what you will probably do but with usthey crammed a whole lot of +%%% in 6 weeks. I can go on and on with this but what is it you exactly want to know about the Marine OCS? BTW I commission inMay.

PT = Physical Training? If so ho many hours a day?

What are you going to be doing when you commission? How is the pay? What are the chances of you going to Afghanistan?

Yes for the PT. We trained for about 3 - 4 hrs a day with the remainder being in the class unless we had major field exercises. I don't knowwhat I am going to do yet new Lt's don't know until they are going through TBS but if I had a choice I would like to do Intelligence or CounterIntelligence. Chances of going overseas are likely but it depends on your job as well I am enlisted right now and I know many folks who have not left stateside. As far as pay goes I want to say average monthly salary is like 2500 + any BAH and other allowances.
