NEW YORK, June 22, 2009 -- Twenty-one NBA teams, including the 2009 NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers, will compete in this year's NBA Summer League presented by EA SPORTS in a 55-game schedule that was announced today. A team of NBA Development League Select players will also participate in the action taking place at the Thomas & Mack Center and the COX Pavilion on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas July 10-19.

The showdown in the desert will tip off on Friday, July 10, with four games scheduled at COX Pavilion. Teams slated for action on opening day include the Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors.

"NBA Summer League provides incoming rookies an opportunity to begin the acclimation process to the NBA while also giving teams the chance to evaluate free agents and provide further training for veteran players." said Stu Jackson, Executive Vice President of NBA Basketball Operations.

This year's action could include 24 of the 30 first round picks from the 2009 NBA Draft, which will be held June 25, including the Los Angeles Clippers', Memphis Grizzlies' and Oklahoma City Thunder selections -- the first, second and third picks, respectively. NBA stars who have participated in recent NBA Summer League presented by EA Sports action include Memphis' O.J. Mayo (2008), Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant (2007), Portland's Brandon Roy (2006), New Orleans' Chris Paul (2005) and Orlando's Jameer Nelson (2004).

"NBA Summer League is a great opportunity for fans to get an up-close and personal look at the league's newest stars in a family-friendly atmosphere," said Gail Hunter, NBA Senior Vice President of Events and Attractions.

Joining the above-mentioned teams scheduled to appear in Vegas this summer are the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Hornets, New York Knicks, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs and Washington Wizards.

Damn finances must be rough...got teams doubling up.

Look for Ewing Jr on either the Wizards or the Magic roster...but he's still fielding offers and will go with the one that makes most sense so don'tquote me on that.

Soooo Golden State is not putting Brandan Wright on the summer league roster??
smh.gif

Rob Kurz is on our damn SL roster?

JC.

Get this piece of hot garbage away from anything associated w/ the NBA.

Is it the team's decision or the player's?

but regardless, he should be going to summer league.

The Clippers summer league squad is kinda crazy.

And it looks like DeJuan gets another chance to give Hasheem the ragdoll treatment.

Ty Rice has no shot of making the Wizards. Kid can flat out play tho....hopefully he'll use the Summer League to showcase what he can do, and latch on to ateam that isn't as guard heavy as the Wiz.

That Clippers lineup is EXACTLY who they should run out there in the future.

Jordan
Griffin
Thorton
Gordon
Taylor

They should run this summer league hands down.

What does Danny Green really bring to the table. He isn't that athletic, is an ok shooter but really nothing of his game to me says he is an NBA player. While I am not sure Paul is, Paul's athleticism and strength are on an Elite level, he could be a lockdown defender in the league.

I have a hard time beleiving Paul can assume this lock down defender role I'm hearing. I mean, regardless of the 2-3, I never saw anything THAT greatdefensively.

I personally blame that on Boeheim's defensive system, of course Paul isn't going to be able flourish in a zone and plus he was guardingmuch bigger guys than he would be on in the league for the most part. Every raved about his D in the workouts all though those workouts hardly mean too much. We'll see.

some of these teams got some real interesting line-ups and prospects...
clippers were already mentioned and they could be scary dangerous out there on the summer league floor

memphis has a stacked frontcourt with thabeet, hamed haddadi, darrell arthur, jeff adrien, sam young...thats 3 exeperienced all big east forwards who will befamilair with each other's games already

but i think if the clippers are going to run the vegas league, philly / nj will run the orlando league:
pg - jrue holiday
sg - cdr / dionte christmas
sf - t will / gary forbes
pf - speights
c - lopez

they got a pg that plays d and can distribute, versaitle sf's who can do it all in t will and gary forbes (don't sleep) and a solid frontcourt inspeights and lopez. Oh yeah, there sg's can get buckets...it would be sick to see this team go up against the clippers squad
