Who was I arguing with in here about how the NYE aspect was going to cut out so many casual fans? Had to be at least 2-3 of you: "Nah, doubt it will have an effect"

Won't be one to deny the two game's being relatively non-competitive in the second halves as partial reasons, but not much more than partial.

I'm sure the non-competitiveness of all the bowl games across the board this season has affected the ratings. NYE does fall on a Saturday this year so that may assist in boosting some of the viewership back up. But does the Rose Bowl get moved off New Year's day since it's on a Sunday and they wouldn't dare go head up against the NFL, right?

Also have to take into account that Bama and OU were the only traditional powers in this year's semis. Where as last year you had OSU, Bama, and FSU along with Oregon. And that it was the 1st year of the playoff so interest would naturally be at an all time high.

EDIT: looks like the dates aren't being changed for next year. NYE will have the Peach and Fiesta bowl on Saturday for the semis and the others will play onMonday, January 2nd.

Also why don't the Pac-12 and SEC play each other in any bowl game, seems bizzare.

Scrambled, ran, lowered his head, took a brutal hit to the dome. Knocked him out (figuratively) of the game. Dunno if he'll return Looks like VA is definitely done. Sad that his season ends on a stupid play like that.
