Steph Curry was pretty popular before LeBron doused the Warriors to win the chip for Cleveland. Steph was being called the best player in the NBA, and was about to be marketed as such, until that series. They then went and got him some help, which muted any more discussion about who was the best player in the NBA.
People want to see the best compete, and that sells. LeBron being the best, brings about the best in others, which generates interest around the league. Ratings are then UP, and the league wins because the best player transcends the game.

Essentially, LeBron drives revenue in just about every way possible. In about three months, the Staples Center will be packed to the rafters with people wearing purple and gold No. 23 jerseys, and jersey retailers everywhere will be raking in a couple of fortunes.
