Demas had to find out the hard way that Ferg dont play. I went to Juco with him and he was laid back and cool but didn't play. The locals in Tyler didn't care for him too much because he knocked some of them out at the local club. Dude was built like a LB but played WR and baskeball. That was over 20 years ago and we still talk about him.
Just the right amount of goon and influence at A&M and yeah, he’s a tank. Even still. :lol

Seeing that was more surprising than I heard some people got a dude or two over evan neal

i assumed those 2 guys had the top spots at their positions locked up

Yeah Ikem Ekwonu is the OT over Neal that people are trying to talk themselves into, but I think it’s a smokescreen

there are 2 guys I heard mentioned on a pod.. ekwonu and another dude

but yea people going be floating shh between now and the draft especially with the QBs in this one

I'm stunned Amazon went with Kirk to be in the booth for NFL games. Like really stunned. He couldn't have been a top 10 choice for them.

Some name QBs liked this post, seemingly throwing shade at Lebby for this drill.

Adding more humor for me:

I think he was actually. His contract allows him to work on another network, so out of all the possible options he was probably the one with the most name recognition. You’re not getting Tony or Chris without having to overpay for them, and Troy just turned them down.

I don't think that adding additional scholarship numbers will fix this, and I also don't think there is an issue to fix at all.

The NCAA granting everyone an additional year of eligibility is what's throwing off the transfer numbers because there's a pool of over 1,000 additional players with eligibility than they're usually would be. In 2020 the players who stayed for an additional year didn't count against your '85 scholarships, but now they do. This is what is screwing over high school kids, the pool of 1000 additional players who otherwise wouldn't be there. (like Stetson Bennett coming back for a 6th year).

Once all of these players have cycled out, We will have a better view of the portal.

The portal screwing high school kids is a wildly silly narrative.

💯💯💯

If you exclude the several hundred (maybe 1000) using their additional covid year, it's the exact same number of players playing college football. I don't understand the narrative that high school kids are getting screwed over at all. What will providing schools with more scholarships accomplish? Deion is out here talking reckless and no one is checking him.

You got these recruits, whatever out of 5 star they are, they don't see the field (because they aren't as good as they were rated or initially thought to be or sitting behind others on a stacked squad) or get PT, but feel underappreaciated for whatever reason. It's feasible to believe a majority of these guys are merely ones who are nothing but role players who think theyre more or would be a kid who would typically ride the pine for a few years and just may not make it, or if they stuck around, see the field as a senior pre-portal days. Not everyone...not even nearly everyone will be a Jamison Williams.

Instead, they go to another school living off of said rating, maybe starts, but still doesn't cut it. Instead of understanding the guy just isn't good, he gets passed along and takes a spot of a HS kid. So, instead of recruiting that underlooked 2 star kid or 3-star because theyre bringing in a 4-star guy from the SEC who couldnt cut it, only for the same conclusion to be realized, they pass on a HS guy that has to go D II or D III now. Seems like a very conceivable notion, in my opinion.

TBH, so what?

The system is specifically designed so the top 25 schools can't hoard all of the high school recruit talent. Alabama and Ohio State were never going after those underlooked 2 and 3 stars anyway. Those kids were always going G5 or FCS.

If you're a top high school kid, you're going to get recruited by a big school. If you're a late bloomer, or just not that good, then you need to accept that, take the scholarship at a lower tier school and ball out. If you do, then hit the transfer portal and you're going to get a ton of offers after your 1st or 2nd year (See: all the mountain west kids that transferred to OU, Texas, and Pac 12 schools after their FR season.)

The entities being hurt are the lower tier P5s, G5s, and FCS's that hate that they can't block a transfer and if they find a gem they lose them after a season or two, but again, so what? That's positive for the players. As for there not being enough spots, as atlsfinest atlsfinest pointed out, it's a product of the COVID year and all those kids getting an extra season. It's probably going to self-correct.

Deion doesn't give a **** about HS kids not getting D1 offers. He's out here actively trying to recruit some of them not to play in the FBS. What is he talking about
