Official 2021 Boxing Thread: 11/6 - Canelo Alvarez vs. Caleb Plant SHO PPV

Wilder is not garbage, he's just not a technical fighter. He would still destroy AJ though(because AJ is a stiff mannequin with terrible head movement).

Wilder's conditioning is a issue. Bruh was on fumes after the 5th round. Could barely get his hands up to guard and by the 8th he wasn't even guarding, just trying to weave, trade and grab. His legacy is homerun haymakers, maybe he put Fury out on the second knockdown but you shouldn't hang your hat on KO's. Gotta prepare like you're not going to knock your opponent out early.

Wilder lacks fundamentals and footwork which means he can’t fight inside the pocket. He needs full extension on that right hand, Fury matches his reach and height so he sees that straight right coming from a mile away.

Fury just a bad matchup for Wilder. Wilder can get away with the lack of technique against anyone else but Fury has quick hands and fast twitch movement that doesn’t match his body type  and when you combine that with his frame it’s a exhausting slugout for Wilder lmao.

When Fury backs Wilder to the ropes all Wilder has to do is jab and pivot out the way before Fury even has a chance to lean on him. Mayweather and Canelo are masters at making you think you have them trapped against the ropes before they tap you with a 1-2 and then pivot to the center of the ring before you can retaliate. Wilder had a nice 2 rounds with the snappy jab to the body, but then he reverted to the windmills soon after :smh:

Fury, though not quite as heavy handed, fights a bit like Foreman. Wilder had to follow Ali's blueprint but of course was never going to be able to execute it.
