All this Suns talk is great and im happy for CP for finally having some luck on his side, but the media seems to forget they would’ve probably lost in round 1 had everyone been healthy.
They’re trying to give CP his flowers. There will be a footnote for this championship if they win but still give them their credit.

So do you just want that brought up whenever they have success?

Nah definitely not. You need luck to win it all. They played great and were very fortunate every single opponent they played had a key all star caliber player out.

The Bucks really are their main test.

What a disaster

That's just how things go. The narrative around Chris Paul and the "Suns model" for team building would be very different if they get bounced in the first round against a healthy Lakers team or even if they lose in the conference finals against a healthy Clippers team.

The Suns have been blessed with incredible injury luck this season, in my opinion that has as much to do with their success as anything else. While every other team was decimated by injuries, all of their key guys were healthy throughout the vast majority of the regular season and post season. Hats off to Phoenix.

This footnote and/or asterisk rhetoric needs to stop. No one in history will ever remember the players who didn't play or were injured. They always remember who won. Would the series have been different if everyone was healthy? Yes, of course. Hell, if everyone was healthy, the Suns and Bucks probably don't make the Finals. But that's sport and injuries will always be a part of the game.

CP3 is very fortunate to have made it to the Finals because of injuries to other players, but you could make the same argument for when he lost because he was injured.

What a disaster

When greed and ego get in the way.

Nobody is taking credit away from them or diminishing how good they are. They were the #2 seed but facts are facts . They have played opponents in which a superstar has been hurt every series. I can’t recall seeing that ever before.

The 2015 Warriors had a similar path. Jrue Holiday missed the first round for New Orleans. Mike Conley missed the second round for Memphis and the Cavaliers were without Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving (for all but Game 1) in the Finals.

To your point though, only hardcore basketball fans care about the details of a championship run. 99% of fans just see the team holding the championship.

This. You could point to could say this about literally every championship in history.

I agree with you. They've been VERY fortunate to have abated the injury boogeyman.

But my comment was more for the people trying to cast aspersions towards CP3 for not facing fully healthy teams. What about all those years he was on the other side of the injury fence?

Why do folks act like the Suns haven't been affected by injuries also. CP3 could barely dribble for most of the Lakers series. Murray got hurt in early April, they been adjusted to him being off the court. The Clippers are the only one with a legit injury excuse. That series had their star get his nose broke and the leader out with covid that judging by the eye test affected him at least game 3 and 4 while missing the 1st two.

This isn't directed towards anyone here. Its funny that when CP3 lost series due to his injuries its excusable due to him being injury prone. So those teams don't get knocked. But injury prone AD and KL its the end of the world.

What do you mean? A lot of people bring out the Chris Paul being injured in 2018 as the reason the Rockets didn't win that championship. No one is giving Chris Paul any more flack than they give anyone else.
