You can get good college edge guys who don’t necessarily have NFL ready traits on G5 and low tier P4 rosters, but there realistically aren’t that many athletic guys who are 6’2” and 300+ walking around for that to be a viable strategy.

There are exceptions but productive IDL are almost always guys who have NFL traits and most of those guys are already on big time teams.

If he truly is #2 then that QB room is about to blow up.
He's the #2. I saw a report that said in a normal year, he's probably doing well enough in spring where him winning the job would be a serious consideration. But they didn't spend all that on Howard for him to sit.
