Great first half by Arsenal. Taking Newcastle's game right to them with physical play. Guimares getting his *** whooped anytime he has the ball has neutralized the bastard. Somehow, unlucky to not be up by 4 right now.

Ode needs to shoot the ****ing ball :smh: Man is looking like sub-prime Havertz while Kai is flying towards a new nickname.

We have an ingrained style we’re just not very good at it. The below graph shows the team we would look like if everything was firing on all cylinders.

The problem is we don’t have the players (and coach it looks like) to implement this at a high level. If he gets fired part of it will be on him for moving away from the style that got him the job in the first place. He went all in this summer on making this “the best transitional team in the world” and it looks like it may backfire on him.
Describe that ingrained style. Go!

That’s what the graph was for. Fast and direct football. Achieved by pressing and making passes in behind teams in transition. We just suck at it.

We don’t press well except for maybe the first few minutes of a game. Our midfield isn’t athletic, so once the press is beat opposition players can have unobstructed runs on goal. And our CB pairings are either slow, old, **** or all of the above. Meaning we can’t employ a successful high line. With the ball, nobody seems able to pass so when trying to play those vertical passes we turn the ball over leaving our unathletic midfield and slow/old/**** CBs exposed to the counter.

Damn Newcastle getting belt to ***.

Ouch. And somehow the more I see Newcastle struggle/lose the more I see Tuchel returning. Or at least Howe leaving at the least

Wouldn’t we breach some FFP if we fire Poch asap?

Either way, Chelsea‘s current dilemma is that with Boehly he wanted a fresh start so he got it. new players new manager. Potter didn’t work so they take them out. Blame the manager. now Poch in and now what is it, blame the players?

I wouldn’t call him a top manager by any means, but surely above Potter. And surely has résumé gives him breathing room. Breathing room enough for the conversation to be “Is it time to blame the players”
