When I clicked the link in the email and set my password it logged me in straight away

Add a item to your cart. Try to log in with your info and it will go through. Its a glitch

Use the forgot password link in the email they send you, once you reset the password it'll log you in at the same time.

If you want to log in say on another device or browser you'll have to do the same process.

Otherwise make a new account, the new accounts shouldn't have this problem.
