Chlorophyll has always been more of a Kermit the frog green. This 2022 is truly the closest.
And a 1990/00/04 zoom trainer/0809 zoom tennis. Both went more of a green spark than actually trying either chlorophyll green or the original green.

Local spot had them. Didn’t think to ask for sizes left since I already got my pair but if these sit long enough for a sale, I may be tempted to double up even if I said no since I have 2012 and the SB pair in rotation still.

You’re going back in time but the 2005 huf sf had an outer mesh toebox. Then in 2010, the black neon footlocker euro exclusives had a mesh like toebox too.
Nothing really ever happened since. A mesh at1 chlorophyll is game changing. But they haven’t cared in 35 years. Why now?

never say never. they put a mesh toe on the purple punch huarache retro a few years back and put a mesh tongue on the recent auburn trainer sc retro for no damn reason

That color way works on anything. I got mine in 2015. Lunar trainer 1. Still haven’t worn them. Kind of cheap and light feeling. A total turf type shoe with its outsole design.

Nike never reused the white mesh under the Nike logo in any re-release. AFAIKTrue. I’ve only ever seen production dates of 87-88-90-93 but more could easily exist. Within each year, there may be multiple runs. This shoe was everywhere for a decent 3-4 year run.

And when I say exposed stitching around the tongue, here’s the best example
The very first 1987 release had the exposed border around the tongue. Beyond 1987s first run, 1988 and beyond seemed to go with the folded look
The many retros starting in 2000 have had everything in between these examples.
Whatever came of this at1 original era with mesh toebox and side panels?

A lot of McEnroes shoes seemed to be based on the original tongue design, and not the folded look. The above is folded, while there is a custom outsole mcenroe around with the tongue rim.
Truly the only missing element on these 2022 is having a perforated tongue. The 2012s didn’t get this right either. Their tongue was a soft nylon/mesh and not leather/perf. Leather.
Edit: looking at the first two photos, there may be some tongue height issues too. I have never really gone too deep into that comparison.
