Official Computer Speakers Thread

Yo!
I currently have the discontinued logitech Z2300 [now discontinued], but my right speaker just gave out.  

Someone recommended that I swap them out with something along these lines: 40W+ rated hms 50hz+ - 20Hz + mid level bookshelf speakers.

The sub/amp consist of just RCA outputs, so I'd assume I'd have to do some splicing or just buy speakers with compatible inputs.  Also, magnetically shielded?

Or should I just not bother with the trouble and buy a new set?

Figured I'd make a thread for all problems/issues/computer speaker recommendations

^the M-audio's look great, but i may be limited by my desk space just as you. i'll definitely look into it though

a good number of my friends and family members have the bose companions, and it seems that there's been numerous complaints on the lack of low end

I got the Z2300 also right now if I was going to update Id just get whatever they replaced it with. THX certified computer speakers arent that common and logitech is good, I decided against getting those type of m audio reference speakers because those are more for studio usage than real life usage.

i got these sony speakers
they retail 150 and i got em on ebay for $66. they are very good speakers especially with the iphone/ipod dock. and  it also looks very sleek and makes your desk look better.

good thread OP. Looking to get some inexpsensive speakers for my rig as well --but after I get a new monitor. Been using my LED TV as a monitor since last October, and it's really makes my eyes hurt.

Still doing research on inexpensive 2.0 speakers. Won't need a sub, since I'm only planning to use them for just daily use (Music/Videos). They don't need to be that great. But they have to be decent and fair amount of volume, I guess.

Still am going to use my Astro A40 Wireless System for gaming anyways, so ridiculously-nice audio quality isn't a big deal.

Any recommendations?

ive got some pro media 2.1 but the controller is starting to cause some problems.

i have to go to at least half the volume knob for it to register on both speakers.


so, once i get this keyboard bug out of my system ill start looking for a decent 2.1 system. though i rather just get a good pair of headphones.

maudio bx5a here. quality is great since i came from the logitech z2300 which sounded muddy. these bx5as have crispy mids and highs. the lows are lacking, but an added sub would be ok.
