For a long time, I was the leader of the "most of this stuff isn't actually 'hypebeast'" material. But, at some point, the hobby completely jumped the shark.
So, @alp before said, "any white guy in 1s is a hypebeast now?"
Well... remove the qualifier, "white" and, umm, yeah - pretty close.
Hypebeasting used to refer to people within the greater hobby who bounced around from item to item and brand to brand without preferences of their own, simply chasing the hottest trend or with the highest resale value.
Now, that is true of damn near the whole culture, and certainly almost everybody who has started in this hobby in the last five years. People get involved in the hobby for the same reason that people within the hobby used to beast - as an attempted to be accepted and considered cool.
Does that automatically make just basically anybody born after '85 who is wearing 1s a hypebeast? I don't know. But, I guess I just don't really care enough to distinguish anymore.
