Having recent retros in hand with OGs and 00s I think the consistent difference beyond soles is the angle on the toebox. I still find the 00's to be closer to the OGs there. I also find the recent retros to be taller than my OG concords as well. I could see why someone really likes the latter day retro shape over both though. My next project is going to be 2000 Space Jams I picked up for $77. There's also the build quality on the 00-01 retros that I factor in. The mesh structure is there still and the patent is thicker than the flimsy stuff on the recent retros even if it's not OG true patent leather.

There is always a lot of conversation about the patent leather "height" but not as much about the actual shape of the cuts themselves. There is something about the way the patent leather on the OGs curves towards and over the toe that is the most noticeable difference to me, even more than height. I think this contributes to that more pointed toe, which just gives the sneaker a different aesthetic overall.

100%, there's more material in the toebox on the retros. I think we see a similar issue with these recent 5 retros. The shape tries to be right but there's too much material in the toebox for those cuts to form to the front like they originally did.

What about the outsole/midsole tooling? I swear the OG outsole pods are chunkier and extend out further from the upper than the retros do.

Would be ALL IN on Space Jams dropping next year since EYE never owned a pair.

Would really like a remastered version of 72-10s.
