Last is Sony, is last has only 256mb which is not really enough and its a late model, plus couldn't find that is suitable in your price range, but they do have a killer laptop thats a power horse that cost 1,349.

 This is the info I was looking for.  I'm definitely gonna invest in a better computer like a MBP or something with a core i5/i7 processor, but for now I'm looking for something that'll keep me afloat for the next 1-2 years and isn't too expensive.  I was checking out Toshibas earlier and this confirmed what I was thinking, so it'll either be that one or the Asus.  Thanks again for the help man, really appreciate it!

And that guy asked for something in the 700-800$ and now you have him talking about a MBP with an i5/i7? That's going to run about 2 stacks.

I just went ahead and copped that Toshiba Qosmio X305-Q710 for 500. It's actually more than what I need and probably not ultimately going to be my final final choice if one of these auctions falls my way, but I'm good for now. I don't even game, but it's just an if it's out then I need it type of mentality with the gpu and fastest cpus available.

And I agree with Alchemist Vaios are OD overrated. I know that Squaretrade warranty graph has them #1 or 2, but that plastic is cheap as $$+@ and feels like it's bending when you palm it in your hand and I had the i7 VPC series which isn't cheap, they run about 1300$

I'm really considering building myself a laptop off a barebones kit. Dude on eBay has a barebones Alienware kit, but I don't want to get in over my head and end up with 1000$+ in hardware and mess it up or not know what to do with everything. Don't know why but I'm on the Alienware hype right now, don't know why. They're actually kind of ugly save for the multi color backlit keyboards.

I think I have had 7 or 8 laptops just this yr alone, I can never make up my mind or be satisfied.

i5 deals come and go daily, I'm looking at a Lenovo right now with an i5, integrated graphics though, for under 6 and they have some i7 Thinkpads w. dedicated graphics for 750$ yesterday in the outlet but now they're 930.

In 2010 all laptops should have 4gb of ddr3 ram, its efficient and consumes less energy. 500gb is more than enough, Battery life is also important 4-6hrs will do, but it depends on the processor.

Intel Core i3 is just a Core 2 duo that has virtual cores, this you'll find in a mainstream laptop, but it won't give you the power if the programs you'll use is really intensive.

Core i5/i7 with turbo boost is what any Carrer minded consumer who will use it for home and work, and actually do something intensive and produce material like you are instead of checking your facebook.

Graphics card is also important cause the internet will soon be switching to GPU Power and its all ready occurring.

Lies, hp has some of the best laptop out along with great excellent customer service and should be listed in your little top 5 list with all them brand thats more known to make cameras and tv's  and also if you really want to save on using less power look for laptops with amd motherboards.

I work at Best Buy in Geek Squad, one time im opening computers to make restore cd's mulitiple HP computer had open compartments revealing the heat sink and the ram. I've seen this 40+ times, also blue screen of death to brand new Hp computers.

I Can find a article in which HP and Acer are in a arms race who can manufacture the most computer products within a year. Thats terrible you make to much products quality decreases, and you buy a shotty product that only gonna last you 1-2 years.

What? AMD processors are battery hogs, and are unreliable if its not a hi-end AMD don't even look at it in a laptop if does't cost more than $900, intel rules king of power management. Asus motherboards are known world wide #1 trusted motherboard with tweaking abilities if your and over clocker, on both AMD and Intel Processors.


Customer service, I don't know of. However Asus has best company warranty for laptops they don't give you a limited warranty, its full coverage when you buy a Asus laptop, they give 1 year accidental damgage with dead pixel damage. HP...NO! just 1yr limited if its defective and its not covered if the damage is inflicted by the owner, and you'll have buy there warranty if you want to be covered.

Dude HP is garage, I'll will never recommend HP, NEVER!.
