OFFICIAL MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES DISCUSSION THREAD (4-10) - PORTLAND/GRIZZ TRADE TALK AGAIN

I think its about time for this team to have an official discussion thread. They went from being last in the league in OPP. PPG to 3rd, holding theiropponents to 85.5ppg. The hiring of Kevin O'neill has definitely help this team play with more intensity even though the offense is struggling a littlebit. As of now, we have 3 of the best rookies from the draft in Gasol, Mayo and Arthur. If all 3 of them continue to produce the way they are now, ChrisWallace may be able to win Executive of the Year.

This upcoming road trip would really be able to determine how well the team has grown together through training camp, preseason and the first 4 games of theseason. Sacramento should be a win, Warriors could be a win if they play with the same intensity they did the other night, and Nuggets would be a tough game.This team could be on the verge to surprising a lot of people this season and probably be just as surprising as the Blazers were last season mainly because wehave three rookies, a sophmore and a 3-year player in the starting lineup.

It seems like now the Pau trade isn't looking like THAT much of a steal anymore.

Marc is gonna be a great player in this league

But what's up with Mike Conley?? I know it's four games into the season but his game has looked really stale lately

Conley is a bum he doesn't do anything to say " yeah he should be starting ". I might have to buy that league Pass for the Pc to watch thesedudes, hawks & SONICS

Everybody in Memphis been wondering the same thing about Conley. He shows signs of what he can do to defenses during certain parts of the game, but for themost part he doesn't attack the basket like he should. He rarely pushes the ball unlike Lowry who just may take his starting spot. Crittenton attacks thebasket well too, plus he has a height advantage which is why I don't understand he is on the inactive list. I think Conley's problem is he thinks toomuch before driving the lane. After getting hurt last season, he's starting to 2nd guess himself alot.

Conley needs to quit playing like he is afraid to turn the ball over, i'm sure everybody understands the risks of playing uptempo just run. Lowry gets atleast 2 or 3 charges called against him a game, doesn't stop him from barrelling into the lane the next time down. Conley doesnt have anything that he canhang his hat on right now so I think he wants to be the "game manager"

Great game by Mayo. He was finally able to go off one game with the team needing him.

As for the rest of the game, Heisley needs to fire Iavaroni ASAP. He's definitely not the coach for the team, and he continually makes stupid mistakesthroughout the game that just doesn't make sense. I know Arthur was in foul trouble, but what's the point in starting him when and he only plays 15-16minutes? Conley was finally getting into a groove and driving to the hole, but he decides to play Lowry basically the entire 2nd half. He is making too manymistakes with a young team that needs a coach that knows what he is doing. As a young team, the Grizz played with good effort down the stretch coming back from19 against a hungry Sacramento at home. With Kevin O'neill's defense and Avery's offense, the Grizzlies would be very dangerous. After seeing howwell the Grizzlies performed in games due to the young talent (and not the coaching), and they start to lose a lot of games I expect Iavaroni to be firedsometime in December.

Grizzlies got had on the whole "lets be Suns part 2" by hiring Ivaroni. What nobody thought about at that time was:


The suns dont run plays, they just let Nash do whatever he wanted. So we hired a coach with whom we should have known had no offensive schemes to run in thefirst place.

But hopefully this is our last half season of Ivy

Great game last night. I'm surprised we won after I saw how they beat Denver the other night especially with us being on the road. Mayo pulled down 9boards, Arthur 13 and 12, and Warrick 19 and 10 off the bench.

Hopefullywe can steal one in Denver.
