I am gonna miss the EliteXC again, but I hpe kenny beats Kimbo. I hate Kenny but this chump needs to be beat. I guarantee you the first sign of Kenny gettinginto trouble, that ref is gonna stop it. EliteXC cannot take any chances having this clown lose.

A few more bouts confirmed for the New Years Eve Card:

Champ Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Frank Mir (for interim UFC heavyweight title)
Champ Forrest Griffin vs. Rashad Evans (for UFC light heavyweight title)
Quinton Jackson vs. Wanderlei Silva
C.B. Dollaway vs. Jorge Rivera
Dean Lister vs. Yushin Okami
Mustafa Al-Turk vs. Cheick Kongo
Brad Blackburn vs. Ryo Chonan
Ivan Serati vs. TBA

yeah, that's the way to keep jackson from going off the deep end, bring him back to get ko'd by wandy.

lister/okami is solid as hell for a 4th/5th fight on a card.

forrest/rashad should def be the main event of that card, nog/mir is going t............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has officially announced a return to Ireland on Jan 17, but this time they will be traveling to Dublin for the first time. Former middleweight champion, Rich "Ace" Franklin stays put at 205lbs to face Dan Henderson in a tough light heavyweight showdown as the main event.

Also on the card will be former top light heavyweight stand-out, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua moving up to heavyweight for the night to get a rematch with Mark "The Hammer" Coleman, who defeated Rua while the two were in Pride a few years ago.

The fight between Franklin and Henderson is the culmination of a tremendous body of work for both competitors as they finally get the chance to square off in the Octagon.

"Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson is a battle between two great former champions who are both looking to get another chance to wear a world title around their waist," said Dana White in a press release on Wednesday. "Franklin is the former UFC Middleweight champion, and he's a dangerous striker with solid submission skills - he also showed great takedown defense in his September destruction of powerful wrestler Matt Hamill."

"Dan Henderson is the former Pride welterweight and middleweight champion. He's a world class wrestler, known for his great chin and his one punch knockout power. He defeated formidable Brazilian submission specialist Rousimar Palhares in September. These are two fan favorites with a lot of pride on the line as they want to show that they are still among the very best fighters in the world."

Because the bout between Franklin and Henderson takes place at 205lbs, this could officially eliminate Henderson from the recent rumors that he may coach alongside Michael Bisping, who seems like a logical choice for the United Kingdom squad, in the latest installment of the "Ultimate Fighter" reality series.

The UFC has made no official announcement regarding any coaching possibilities for the show so anything could still happen.

The Jan 17 event will re-introduce fans to Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, who had one of the most hyped arrivals ever in the UFC, but did not live up to expectations when he lost to now light heavyweight champion, Forrest Griffin, in Sept 2007.

Rua has since disappeared off the radar due to several knee surgeries that have kept the former Pride champion sidelined for more than a year.

The rematch between Shogun and Coleman should be interesting to say the least as the two fighters have a history that at one time included a feud between to the camps of the two former champions. Coleman defeated Shogun while in Pride after a takedown from the former Ohio State wrestler caused an awkward landing for Rua and his arm broke thus stopping the fight.

Soon after it was almost bedlam as members of Rua's former team, Chute Boxe, rushed the ring as Coleman celebrated with his Hammer House squad. The grudge between to the two fighters will finally be settled in Ireland in January.

More fights are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

i guess this is in addition to the GSP/Penn 2 bout scheduled tenatively for the 31st.

This sounds interesting. Why Shogan gonna move up? I guess he can take this and then go back down ready to do some things in LHW. Forrest won't have the belt by the time they rematch. Hendo/Franklin is interesting we'll see where Franklin measures with this one.

Coleman is dropping to 205.

All I know is Jake is gonna destroy Daley. And Ken Shamrock is probably gonna take a dive. He's done it before he'll do it again.

I hope ken shamrock wins, he has soo muc more experience thane kimbo. Although kimbo could land a phantom punch. If kimbo loses you never see his face again.Back to the internet for him, or whatever it is he does.

at no point, ever, in his career did shamrock have the skill or wherewithal to compete in today's mma.

i doubt he took a dive ever (not that i think he wouldnt). those asskickings were most likely legit.

the game passed him by at the same time it passed by mullets and sweatpants. he just hasnt had the skill, nor the determination to win a legitimately toughfight.

UPDATE on the Ken Shamrock/Replacement
Sources close to the bout have indicated that Seth Petruzelli has stepped in as a last-second replacement for Ken Shamrock in the main event of tonight's "EliteXC: Heat."

EliteXC officials have yet to make an official announcement.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) was able to confirm with EliteXC officials earlier in the evening that Shamrock suffered an injury within the past 24 hours that was severe enough to cause concern that the bout may have to be scrapped. The exact nature of the injury has not yet been officially released.

Petruzelli was originally scheduled to compete at light-heavyweight in an un-televised undercard bout with Aaron Rosa.

EliteXC officials were scrambling throughout the undercard, and official word of the change was slow to come.

The Shamrock-Ferguson fight was set to headline the third installment of CBS' "Saturday Night Fight" series. Tonight's event takes place at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla.

The 44-year-old Shamrock, who has not registered a win since 2004, last appeared in action in a March Cage Rage event. Shamrock suffered a first-round knockout in that affair to Robert "Buzz" Berry.
