Did you forget the schedule in 99?

It was common to play back-to-back-back games to go along with four games in five nights.
I was gonna say

It got nutty when teams were playing 3 nights in a row and then like 4 or 5 games in 5 or 6 nights

Yeah, thats my bad. I didnt realize how many times 3 nights in a row happened. Just looked at the schedule

That trade sucks for the Cavs...

they were asking for 2 1st for JJ and then they get a PROTECTED 1st for him??

GARBAGE!

No team is going to give up two first round picks for J.J. Hickson.

so they were willing to give up JJ for Caspi but not Amare...incompetence

And do the owners think that this deal is going to force star players to stay were they are or spread around to smaller markets, which will help generate more money for them, because I damn sure don't. NYC, LA, CHI, MIA are ALWAYS going to be more attractive places than MEM, OKC, SAC, CLE etc.

I think what a lot of you guys are missing is that complete difference of the NFL Lockout to the NBA Lockout.

NFL is Greedy owners wanting more from their players. The NBA is owners (22 out of 30) are losing money in this league. You can blame owners too. But this is one of those issues where you have guys making millions even if they did not deserve it. i am not talking the Gadzuric's the brian Cardinals, etc etc. Im talking when the 12th man gets 1 to 2 million dollars to sit on the bench or a suit for the year. The NFL have low tier guys who make thousands, Yes still over 6 digits but there is a gap.

The NBA Owners are not being greedy as NFL owners are.

It is horrible for us. We are the losers in this, not them. You can never feel that the players in any sport care if we lose a sport. the owners only care that they lose our money and merchandise sales. this is a job for these players. and not fighting a lockout or us to have games.

Watching this segment on PTI was demoralizing...kornheiser asked the former GM Tom Penn what are the odds the NBA will go a full season without games, dude said 75% chance the lockout will last a whole year

Gilbert Arenas just loaded the .50 cal and is going off on Twitter regarding the lockout. Sure to be a story on Sportscenter since there is nothing to report now.

Nope. That is dependent on the accounting procedures used. If you don't count interest & depreciation (which you shouldn't considering that if you do then it is the practice of amortizing certain assets related to the purchase of the teams themselves. They show up in the balance sheet, but there is little or no economic substance to the amortization. It does not represent actual money that is going out the door), you can take off 250 mil of the 370 mil that the league claims it's losing. So, that leaves about 120 mil. And a problem of that size in a 30 team league can be easily solved through revenue sharing.

They have yet to show that it's 22 out of the 30 teams losing money tho. I read David Aldrige's proposal and an former executive he spoke to said that number is probably grossly exaggerated and it's more 8-12 teams losing money. Even that number is too much, I agree but still there has to be restructuring in the ways the owners do things among themselves (individual TV deals, more revenue sharing) to make everyone more profitable before they'll be able to hammer out a fair deal with the players.

Again, this situation is different. We can all agree however (Especially on that deadspin article PMatic, I do not want to start on how horrible my team's previous ownership was.)

I am not for the players here. But you guys know that I want these games played. i hear all of you from both sides. I just side with the owners with this lockout. and this is from someone that gives a season's worth of money to go to NBA games

Two lockouts in 12 years, plus I think one more was barely avoided in the mid 00s. Time for Stern to be replaced.
