The Cavaliers have offered Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to the Suns for Shaquille O'Neal, according to sources close to BrianWindhorst.

Such a trade works under the salary cap rules but would not, by itself, bring the Suns below the luxury tax threshold this year ornext.

According to ESPN, this deal has been discussed but is a long ways away from being completed and is described as unlikely.
Breaking News: ThunderRescind Chandler Trade
Chandler_Tyson_noh_080515.jpg

okc_40.gif
The Hornets and Thunder agreed to a trade that sent Tyson Chandler to Oklahoma City in exchange for Joe Smith, Chris Wilcox and DeVonHardin.

One day later, the four players will be going back to their original teams.

Thunder Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced in a press release on Wednesday evening that the team hasrescinded its trade with the Hornets for Chandler.

"We were pleased to add Tyson to the Thunder roster," said Presti. "During the course of the physical examination andoutside consultations some questions arose that gave us cause for concern. We felt that this course of action was the best for ourorganization."

Rescinding trades in the NBA is a very rare occurrence. During the summer of 2005, the Nets and Blazers agreed on a trade that sentShareef Abdur-Rahim to New Jersey, but it was rescinded following a physical examination.

The Cavaliers rescinded a trade involving Mateen Cleaves in a deal with Sacramento in 2002 and they also rescinded a deal for VictorAlexander with the Raptors in 1995.
Bulls, Kings, Blazers TradeNow Official
chi_40.gif
The Chicago Bulls announced today that the team has acquired center/forward Brad Miller and guard/forward John Salmons from the Sacramento Kingsfor forward Andrés Nocioni, forward/center Drew Gooden, and forward Cedric Simmons.

As part of the same trade Michael Ruffin was sent to the Portland Trail Blazers, while forward Ike Diogu goes to Sacramento. With thisdeal, Chicago's roster now stands at 12.

"When we signed Andrés in 2004, he brought a toughness to our basketball team. He's been a warrior, and a professional, sincethe day that he arrived. He has been one of my favorites to ever wear a Bulls uniform; and personally, it was difficult for me to move him," said JohnPaxson, Bulls Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations. "Drew played really well for us in the short time that he was here. It's a tough partof the business when you are traded, and Drew has been traded a few times now, and that is never easy." "Brad Miller is a skilled big man, who wefeel will fit into many of the things that we run offensively. He is a good shooter and passer, and has a natural feel for how to play the game. We feel thathe will be a good complement to Joakim, Tyrus and Aaron on our front line," added Paxson. "John Salmons will bring us tremendous versatility in thebackcourt, and at the small forward position. He has good size and length, and has shown the ability to score this year. We feel he's one of the mostimproved players in the league at this point of the season."

The Knicks and Bulls are discussing a trade for Larry Hughes with the Knicks offering Malik Rose's expiring contract. Another player, perhaps Jerome James, would have to be sent to Chicago to make the deal work. Hughes' contract runs through the 2009-2010 season.

Nate Robinson might be included in the deal and David Lee's name has been mentioned as well. Lee's inclusion would mean TyrusThomas or Joakim Noah, whose game Donnie Walsh likes, would be sent to New York.

The Knick front office is split on whether to retain Lee as a restricted free-agent this summer. Some feel he has already hit hisceiling.
Thunder reject Chandler, trade off
The New Orleans Hornets decided to trade Tyson Chandler to clear some cap space and add depth to the frontcourt. They'll have to go back to the drawing board.

The Oklahoma City Thunder did not medically clear the center onWednesday and therefore rescinded the trade. Chandler would have gone to the Thunder for forwards Chris Wilcox, Joe Smith second-round pick DeVon Hardin.

"We welcome Tyson back with open arms," Hornets general manager Jeff Bower said in a statement. "We went into this trade to garner morefrontcourt depth to add to our team as we continue our push towards the playoffs. We expect Tyson and the rest of our big guys to step up to thechallenge."

No specific reason was given as to why Chandler didn't pass the physical, but he missed the Hornets' last 12 games before the All-Star break becauseof a sprained left ankle.

"We were pleased to add Tyson to the Thunder roster," general manager Sam Presti said. "During the course of the physical examination andoutside consultations some questions arose that gave us cause for concern. We felt that this course of action was the best for our organization."

New Orleans players had been distraught about the trade Tuesday, questioning it as a decision brought on because of the team's desire to stay below thesalary cap instead of as a way to improve the roster. Chandler is due to make about $12 million next season.

All-Star forward David West called it a businessdecision instead of a basketball decision, and said it "leaves a big question mark in the middle" for New Orleans.

Chandler had been a big part of the turnaround that landed the Hornets the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference last year, when they pushed San Antonio toGame 7 in the conference semifinals. He averaged a double-double with 11.8 points and 11.8 rebounds and had more than 100 alley-oop dunks off of lobs fromAll-Star point guard Chris Paul.

His numbers were down a little, to 8.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season as he missed 18 games due to injury.

"I think a lot of that is because of the injuries that he's suffered this season," Hornets coach Byron Scott said after the trade. "The first couple gamesof the season, he was playing really well. Then he hurt his ankle. He came back, he was playing pretty good again, and then his neck was hurt.

"So he's had a series of injuries this season that have really stunted his progress, unfortunately. I don't think it's so much thathe's changed as a basketball player. I think it's that he's had some unfortunate circumstances."

"You'd ask for Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler. So we can't be in charge of who people ask for.All we can do is say yes or no. Actually, this one is pending in a big way, because there is a question of whether the Knicks' application will be dismissed if Cuttino Mobley's heart condition was pre-existing. There is a gray area in this case because of language regarding "the date the team knew or should have known that the injury would cause the player to miss the season."
The Knicks do not expect a quick ruling, but they'd like the league to decide before the trade deadline. If the exception is granted, New York can acquire a player or players making $4.46 million or less without the outgoing salary having to match. No other teams currently have any Disabled Player Exceptions.

It's ashame the Knicksappear 3 times on this thread & not in a positive fashion for them. Hopefully Walsh continues to move the Knicks in the right direction. It stinks that theNBA denied the Knicks the Disabled Players Exception for Cuttino Mobley because they needed it. Nevertheless greatinfo heat23.

Hopefully the Jazz can either draft a good center or PF or trade the pick for one, cause we have Dwill, we wont have Booz im pretty sure so we would need tofill that void

It'll be interesting to see what the Cavs do. We have Wally and Snow's expirings, but I'm not really sure what's immediately available wouldhelp us, and we've been playing great ball. I can see us not making a move really, our chemistry has clicked and everyone knows their role. We'll see Iguess.

When Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie recently said he was "very, very open" when it came to trade talks, it was largely because the door has already closed on this season.

There is no need to hold onto veterans for a playoff push, nor is there reason to think anyone besides Kevin Martin couldn't be living in a new zip code in these next few weeks. With 15 days left until the trade deadline, there is desperation within the organization to start the resuscitating process. The tricky part is to not act out of desperation.

There is added pressure as the Kings' trades thus far in this rebuilding era have yielded little in return. The Mike Bibby trade last February was largely seen as a positive, with the Kings not only absolving themselves of Bibby's $15.2 million salary for this season but making way for the breakout of Beno Udrih. But a year later, Udrih's five-year, $32 million contract signed during the summer has become another albatross on the team's salary cap, and he is among those being discussed in a flurry of trade talks.

The Ron Artest trade with Houston decimated this team from a competitive standpoint. For all of Artest's misgivings, his fiery ways sometimes served as a dysfunctional leadership for a team that now lacks leaders. What's more, the Kings' defense without him has plummeted to league-low depths while the significant rebuilding piece acquired in return - rookie small forward Donté Greene - rarely plays.

There is still hope for the Kings' deals to produce positives. Greene could develop into the dynamic player they believe he can be, and they will have Houston's No. 1 draft pick in June that - while lottery-protected - is on pace to fall somewhere in the 20s.

They also have three trade exceptions by way of that deal worth a combined $1.8 million. Artest's exception is worth $912,112, and those of former Kings second-round picks Sean Singletary and Patrick Ewing Jr. - who were also sent to Houston - worth $442,114. In essence, these trade exceptions - part of what is also dubbed non-simultaneous trades - are assets the Kings acquired at the time of the trade and have until an Aug. 14 deadline to collect on. They offer flexibility in trades and allow teams to take back more salary than they send out in a deal.

But the Kings have yet to find a deal to their liking. League sources continue to indicate they are among the most active teams in trade talks, and most expect at least one move to be made. With a front-office team of Petrie, vice president of basketball operations Wayne Cooper and assistant general manager Jason Levien doing the inquiring, it is unclear which King - if any - will be first to go.

Swingman John Salmons is believed to be drawing the most interest among the players who are potentially available. Two league sources said in recent days that Oklahoma City has expressed a strong interest in the seventh-year player. The Thunder has offered the $4.8 million expiring contract of veteran forward Joe Smith in the deal, although it is not known if Oklahoma City is willing to part with draft picks or perhaps a younger player in return.

Udrih may be on his way out as well, as Dallas is believed to have inquired about him as a possible backup for Jason Kidd with the pieces coming to Sacramento likely including Jerry Stackhouse (this season and next for a combined $14.3 million). Udrih may draw interest from New Orleans or Orlando as well. Both teams just saw their top-tier points guards (Chris Paul and Jameer Nelson, respectively) go down with serious injuries and could shop for a stop-gap solution.

Then there's Brad Miller. While the value of the Kings center seemingly has declined with his inability to replicate the strong season he had in 2007-08, he could find himself wearing a new jersey soon.

League sources said Miller remains in the mix for a possible deal with Miami involving Shawn Marion (expiring contract worth $17.1 million) and Kings forward Kenny Thomas, as the Kings are believed to be among three teams considered as trade partners by the Heat. Miller also could be sent to Chicago if the Bulls are unable to land a higher-profile big man.

The list goes on from there and includes veteran forward Mikki Moore, who told The Bee recently that his old Nets bosses informed him of their desire to bring him back. The Nets also offered a deal for third-year guard Maurice Ager in exchange for third-year Kings guard Quincy Douby earlier this season.

As Petrie made clear with the trade deadline drawing closer, the Kings are open for business.

TRADE BRAD MILLER FOR THE LOVE OF GOD.

Trade him to the Flint Tropics for God Shammgod. Anything. Please Geoff.

I would love to see the Kings move everybody on the roster not named Kevin, Francisco, Jason, Spencer, or Donte.

I hope Petrie has something up his sleeve. Even if all we get is expirings and picks in return I'll be happy. Salmons, Miller, Moore, Thomas, and Udrih allneed to be gone ASAP.

My thoughts exactly!

Kinda funny how there's a lot of teams interested in Kings players, yet the Kings can't win a game all these players other teams are interested in.

Stack and Matrix to go with Kevin Martin? That should be enough to get our win total to 15, right?
