That's why I didn't say "You can just buy them on NB1." Most times lately you can get these J. Crew 998s on discount, with the exception of the overly hyped/more limited colorways (Independence Day, Concrete Jungle for example).

Completely agree with this.  I picked up nearly all the 997s up till recently when I got the CGR with that puffy toe.  No idea why they'd go in that direction.  It isn't as if non-sneakerheads are buying these retro models...we're the ones they need to satisfy and the recent change in shape has kept me from buying most of the latest stuff.
