As a Detroiter I'm assuming it's because the 8 Mile movie and the Carhartt brand share a city but, the Carhartt store and factory aren't anywhere near 8 Mile so I'm not completely certain. There is a 3m factory on east 8 mile though
. Not mad at the nickname tho....but we may be able to do better as well
