OFFICIAL NFL OFFSZN THREAD 2023-24: Schedule just dropped!!!

As someone who slandered Matt Ryan til the day he retired, I can definitely say most Falcons didn't appreciate him

IMO, Matt Ryan is the answer to the hypothetical "What if Brock Purdy was a 1st rounder?"

Both are above average QBs in Shanahan offenses littered with multiple HOF players on the offensive side of the ball

IMO, Ryan received a boost in his MVP voting because he was a 1st rounder, whereas I can admit Purdy never got serious consideration because his Mr. Irrelevant status

HOWEVER, the notion that Matt Ryan consistently underdelivered, whereas Purdy "balls out" and a media darling, is strictly based on their draft position, expectations and not stats

Matt Ryan is the best QB in an NFL franchise's history, exceeded ALL expectation, yet it still feels like he never delivered somehow

Hol up what multiple hall of famers where on the offensive side of the ball when Matt and shanahan where here?

Julio and who else?

Wanted to ask that as well. Maybe end of his career Tony Gonzalez I assume.

Your right Tony was gone by then.

Crazy stat, from his rookie year in 2008 to his final year in Atlanta in 2021, Matt Ryan had never not had a Pro Bowler on the offensive side of the ball except in 2020.

Depending how you view Ryan, it can make the case for him being underrated or overrated.

Julio 5x All-Pro,7x pro-bowler
Roddy White 1x all-pro,4x pro-bowler
Turner & Freeman were also pro-bowlers and made all-pro teams

Turner was the only RB that made an All-Pro and that was in 2008, which was Ryan's Rookie season. Freeman only rushed for over 1,000 yards twice.

NFC Phillip Rivers.

Ya’ll forgot about 10,000 yard receiver Roddy white. Matt had weapons

Roddy, Julio and Tony. That’s a hell of a trio

Turner, Tevin Coleman and Freeman. Matt had at least 5 seasons of RBs getting 1000 yards. Turner also was a rushing touchdown machine.

Roddy and Julio routinely getting 1000 a season too
