Like I said with the Vikings last week, them losing doesn't make them frauds. It's the fashion in which they lost. I'm a Washington fan and I fully expected them to drop a minimum of 40 on us. They're the number 1 offense in the league and a shootout was to be expected and we got that for a while but then we saw what happened. I'm not blaming their defense, it's the QB. There was a point in the game where they stopped throwing because they didn't trust Goff. The most explosive offense in the league looked incompetent. They ran through everybody through the regular season but in their most meaningful game of the season, they folded. That makes them frauds, it's the same metric by which I graded the Vikings. The Vikings have more claim to the "overachiever" title than the lions do. If I'm being honest all the guys who supposedly 'turned the corner" like Goff, Darnold, Geno, and Baker can't be trusted in playoff games. They're always gonna revert to them old selves. Lions aren't winning anything with Goff at QB.

It felt like Goff went into panic mode the minute they went down two scores. The defense didn’t do the Lions any favors. Washington broke their back with all those 4th down conversions. But Goff throwing 3 picks was brutal when the defense couldn’t stop a nosebleed and you needed to put points on the board to match what Washington was doing on offense.

I’m not putting the loss on Goff. He had an off night, but his work throughout the year showed he is not a fraud, he played great all season. The team still put up 31 points despite the turnovers. Realistically a team putting up 31 points in a playoff game should be good enough to win most of the time. The defense did not step up, the injuries became too much to overcome. As soon as Amik went out the entire defensive gameplan had to shift, there were no cornerbacks left outside of Terrion to play man to man coverage to a decent enough level. Commanders exposed that and Jayden was dealing some dimes on his throws. Props to them. Looking forward to next year.
