Official PC thread.

Pretty pleased with this lunchtime’s task - managed to install W11 on a PC that wouldn’t do it - nothing wrong with it but the processor stopped the upgrade.

I had to buy a program for $30 to make the installer but I have a few to do so it was worth it.

Caught a sealed return by 10 min, said they had to sell as open box so negotiated a decent price. Now have to sell my 4090 card, or sell the whole system and rebuild... Should be fun.

Bought this pre built PC for $200 on a game trading site. Still need to finish fully paying it off, but he shipped it early and I've had it for about a month now.

Didn't buy it for gaming but runs TLOU2 Remastered pretty well. Only PC game I've played on it so far.

Oof, the big name computer manufacturers may have **** the bed with the pricing of the "2nd gen" of their pc handhelds. $1350 is wild. even the 900 the xbox ally x will supposedly go for.
It seems like they’re pushing performance, increasing the size/weight of the units but the prices are increasing. They can’t subsidize like Valve. And they ain’t cheating it out Nintendo.

I’m sure the Lenovo outperforms the Switch2. The question is who are they for? Just really enthusiasts.

Rumor is PS6 handheld is $600+ dollars.

Yeah it's for super enthusiasts at this point, but at least others could dabble. Niche products i'm into myself, but they went too far. May as well get a small gaming laptop.
For me I’d rather cop a boutique gaming laptop with a 5070 and double duty as productivity.

But I get the allure of these (Switch, Steamdeck, PortablePC).

I have been around the world and back again when it comes to these portable gaming PCs. Even going as far as the OneXFly F1 Pro 370 and I mean this when I say it, there is nothing better than a Steam Deck OLED and it isn’t even close. Especially when you consider capability, user experience, and price.

When you start talking about 800+, what you can get open box gaming laptop wise will blow everything away. My three year old Alienware laptop is probably 5 times better than the OneXFly, and was $400 cheaper (open box).

If you are looking for a handheld, I recommended the Steam Deck OLED and wouldn’t recommend anything else until the Steam Deck 2.

Yeah after putting SteamOs on my legion go, I really liked it and imagine how much better hardware designed for it would be even with the weaker GPU.

Yeah I'm tempted to just drop back to 1 gaming laptop for all too. Right now I got a gaming PC, MacBook air and legion go.

Gotta keep the rig :lol. Nothing like hopping on it and playing the bangers when you need too. Also, depending on your setup it is nice to have a legit desktop for productivity etc. but I could see selling all and replacing with a laptop. It is just the cost of that laptop vs. what you either already have or what you could get desktop wise is silly.

Think I'm gonna be on the market for a new gaming PC soon. Probably would have pulled the trigger today if the extra 25% off was still working for refurbs from Corsair

It really is. Finish one and have enough spare parts to build another with just a couple pieces so you're like might as well. Trying to move them all and consolidate to a laptop.

Precisely.

I still have a homeless beast of a processor and gpu left begging me for life... intel tho... Which is still my preferred brand, sans the current gen, but I'm not really wanting to do another Z790... time for some AMD.

Just upgraded my main PC (that wouldn't do it automatically) to Windows 11 using this - worked really well.

Also cloned the SSD to a much bigger one so tons of space now - and feels a lot quicker. That will buy me a bit of time before having to replace this one. It's a good spec - just didn't quite meet the requirements. I thought I was going to have to reinstall everything from scratch but that kept everything - just had to fiddle with a few settings to get it all back to normal.

Dell has a pretty good deal going on for a system with a 5080 for $1700. Wish I had ordered yesterday when I would have got an extra 10% cash back.
