"Student loan pause extended one final time..." = This is all I'm going to say about it, dammit!

Disappointed if true. I don't care what he technically promised or didn't promise, this is not going to solve much. We'll be right back to the same table in 2 to 4 years.

I am happy though that this does help those on the cusp of finishing their loan payments.

Edit: the 5% cap for und see rgrad loans is nice, but how does that work if you consolidated both graduate and undergraduate loans? Does it only apply to undergraduate loans or can it extend further? Hope he explains TODAY and doesn't muddle through the next months.

Wait, so if you EVER received a Pell Grant in college and still have loans you’re eligible for up to 20k?? If that’s the case, my loans are finally gone. :pimp::pimp:

Thanks Joe.

And to all the bozos already talking about “this isn’t enough” and “this solves nothing”, go wash your face. This will help A LOT of people in this country. Is there more work to be done in regards to education in the U.S.? OF COURSE. But this is a start. You have to get the ball rolling at some point and this is that point. Hopefully more can be done to make education affordable for the masses in the near future. In the meantime, let folks enjoy this W.

Biden is incurring significant political risk in order to deliver for a notoriously flaky part of his coalition.

if your response to that is some variety of "dems need to DO something"

I think you need re-evaluate things.

I assume my wife it’s screwed because she refinanced years ago :{

She’s got more than 10k but that woulda been nice to shave that off

Smfh

Very disappointing because it does not address the root cause. It does not have a plan to reduce interest rates or address capitalized interest. Also does not apply to people who now make above the $125K threshold. But its a start.

It’s ok if you want to jump for joy at crumbs

I Got A Pell Grant, But I Dont Have No Loans But I Could Still Use 20k...Can JaBiden Help?

Exactly. I’m happy that something was accomplished, but if folks think we’re supposed to be jumping up and down with joy over this they’re delusional. I don’t even care about the income threshold, but the interest is killer for a lot of folks.

This is one of the biggest uses of executive power to push through a policy that will cost hundreds of billions

At a politically and economically inconvenient time

And people really coming out their mouth talking down on this.

Good grief

But its a start.
Thats what matters. Get the ball rolling. If (big if) Dems retain the congress through this year, there will be a lot of opportunity to make actual reforms to how education is afforded in this country. This small start could lead to a major change.

But of course the short sighted and apathetic will hand waive anything short of making college free while eliminating 100% of student loan debt and crediting anyone that went to college in the past 30 years some high-5-figure check.
