FTFYMexico got lucky, fascism is on the rise world wide. We aren’t exceptional
Cult of personality
Things will be tied up in courts by blue governors just like the way republicans do it.
Northern District of California or the Western District of Washington need to become our Western District of Texas. Injunction after injunction needs to flow from there. Even if SCOTUS inevitably strikes them down, it still consumes time and resources to do so.
Edit: oh, also. Build more housing in blue States
I kinda meant it figuratively to where policies shouldn't shift, but maybe the tone and message that needs to reach them shifts. Just like how you brought up legacy media and the distrust that people have about it. It would be hard to swear off legacy media altogether without it reinforcing the far right's original distrust of mainstream media. I mean these are the people that would repost and share anything that reinforces their views and doubling down on it even if it's fabricated.I don't really think they do.
They just need to swear off legacy media and take their platform to the folks who need to hear it. They rely too much on it as their main communication outlet, and these outlets are more money-driven than they are driven by journalistic principles.
Yeah a 3rd term is their only shot. They know it too.
Dems when Vance tries to run in ‘28…
There can't be bipartisanship until there is an agreement on what's facts, and what's fiction.I kinda meant it figuratively to where policies shouldn't shift, but maybe the tone and message that needs to reach them shifts. I don't see one size fits all solution with messaging and communication in our current state of media. Both sides are money-driven in their interests and people will go back to their corners whenever their beliefs will be challenged or lead them to an uncomfortable place. Maybe places like IG, X, Meta need to strip the algorithms so that both sides get equal representation without the feeds turning into echo chambers? But even then, we have Elon controlling X and that is a platform that significantly favors the far right. It's sucks, it feels like there's no solution to bipartisanship in today's polarized state of politics without something major happening again. Covid did it temporarily then here we are 4 years later
Quite remarkably, the Trump campaign successfully branded Harris as both a communist – lax on law and order – and simultaneously too tough on crime. To many, she was both an ineffective vice-president and one who had her hands all over the Biden administration. Voters held these facts in their heads at once – and would not be persuaded otherwise.
particular, we focused on two prolific YouTubers who have been very engaged with U.S. politics in the lead-up to the election. And Juan Torres was one of them. John Acquaviva, who also happens to be Venezuelan, was the other one.
John Acquaviva: “Todos los que vimos el debate sabemos que Kamala Harris se la pasó, ya sea interrumpiendo…”
Maria Hinojosa: These creators have a combined following of over half a million subscribers and counting. Both are very passionate about what’s happening in the United States, but neither one of them has any direct ties to this country. (MUSIC)
Maria Hinojosa: Yes, you heard that right. And yet, despite living outside of the United States and not being U.S. citizens and can’t even vote in this country, their influence and reach is local. In our months-long research of misinformation in Spanish, we also came upon conspiracies about the FBI raid at Donald Trump’s Mar a Lago estate, lies about Kamala Harris being a Marxist, theories about President Joe Biden’s decision to not run for re-election. All of these narratives originated in English. Only to be repurposed soon after in Spanish. It’s not new that Latinos in the U.S. are prime targets of misinformation, particularly in Spanish. After all, over 40 percent of us consume news in Spanish. What’s different this election cycle is a growth of both content creators attracted by the ever expanding Latino market and the online platforms themselves. 17 percent of U.S. adults now get news from TikTok compared to just 3 percent in 2020.
Maria Hinojosa: And X, formerly Twitter, has now expanded because it pays verified users. And so, more users started trying to go viral. And going viral is good for business, because it means more followers, more clicks, and ultimately, more money. It’s hard to know how many creators are putting out fake content in this election cycle.
Maria Hinojosa: Experts have told us there simply aren’t enough resources dedicated to tracking them all, especially in Spanish. So, posts en español just live on, and on, and on, fueling a wave of disinformation that drowns out the facts, and ultimately, drowns out the truth. (MUSIC FADES OUT)
Maria Hinojosa: Sadly, it’s Latinos who are often the ones spreading this content to our own communities, and sometimes from afar, because, dear listener, as we dug into how this underworld of misinformation operates and who the players are, we actually had to leave the United States in order to get the answers.
Propaganda was a huge plus for Trump. Dems won't win without a counter to this.
I don't really think they do.
