Candidate criticized for saying displaced Puerto Ricans shouldn't be able to vote in Florida

Washington (CNN) A Republican congressional candidate is facing a backlash after saying that Puerto Ricans who moved to Florida in the wake of Hurricane Maria last year should not be able to register to vote in the state.

In a video uploaded to YouTube by the campaign of a Republican rival, John Ward -- a candidate in the GOP primary for Florida's 6th Congressional District -- is asked by a voter how he would respond to Puerto Ricans who have "moved either temporarily or permanently to Florida" when "they say that they need more help and that the aid to Puerto Rico is not enough."

Ward replied by saying, "First of all, I don't think they should be allowed to register to vote. It's not lost on me that, I think, the Democrat party's really hoping that they can change the voting registers in a lot of counties and districts, and I don't think they should be allowed to do that."

The candidate went on to say that "we should be looking to put the Puerto Ricans back in their homes. The idea that they can come to the mainland United States, I don't necessarily have a problem with that, but I think we should be thinking about it in terms of getting them back home and providing the capital and resources to rebuild Puerto Rico, which is, I honestly think, is where they belong."

Side note: This "democrat party" sneak diss some of these dudes insist on should just be corrected every time. ****ing annoying.

How do you like Nevada?
To be honest, don't really like it.

There are a few benefits like low cost of living, decent supply lots work that does not require a degree, lots of events, but the schools are criminally underfunded, the infrastructure is trash, and the food choices are not as varied as you would find in other big cities. And of course no sports teams besides hockey.

Reno is a lil better in some areas.

But if you were going to move to a Sotuhwest city. Move to the Phoenix area.

Does Nevada have state income tax?

Like you mentioned states that don’t have state income taxes usually have underfunded public schools and terrible infrastructure. You may not be paying state income taxes but you’re paying in other ways. Do you guys have unions in Nevada?

Yeah, they are stronger in Vegas than Reno.

They help a ton too, but all the casino owner want to get rid of them. Funny thing about unions is that they even raise the wages in places without unions. Since all companies gotta compete for wrokers.

Tearful state lawmaker tries to charm officers into letting her off a DWI by telling them she doesn't believe police are racist

A tearful New Mexico state lawmaker (Rep. Monica Youngblood) tried to charm police into waiving her drunk driving offense by telling the arresting officer that she had always stood up for them when people claimed they were racist.

Youngblood, who refused to take a breath test, insisted that she hadn't had a drink and was instead upset over a fight with her boyfriend.

She tearfully begged the officers not to arrest her before repeatedly telling them that she's a legislator who fights for police.

'I literally fight for you guys... I fight for you guys every time I get the chance,' Youngblood can be heard saying from the back of the squad car.

The officer responds: 'That doesn't make it okay for you to drink and drive.'

The Republican lawmaker also told the officer that she had sponsored legislation that would reinstate the death penalty for cop killers.

'So many people tell me that you guys treat people of color like s**t, and I always stood up for you,' Youngblood can be heard saying.
