The rebrand is lazy for sure. It's one of those things that got voted on in a boardroom and the most vanilla design was the only one they could agree on.

Funny part is. The flat designs became popular once Apple made it part of their OS. With their OS changing to crystal in a few weeks I can see them trying to modernize it to match that within a year.

They're just scared of change. The whole thing is silly. How did game designers get caught up in this.

If anything it makes it worse because now every design illiterate executive can pull out some garbage he generated from chat gpt and be like "what about this?":smh:

I can't emphasize this enough. It's even worse when you have entry level kids coming through the ranks relying on it. The years in school they were supposed to be developing the ability to pull ideas from the subject matter and really rely on building a creative portfolio has started to evaporate.

I feel bad for the designers getting caught up in this Cracker Barrell stuff.

republicans trying to turn it into another woke run amok thing. and seems like some dems hate it also.

having worked on these types of things, the old cracker barrel logo is just bad on a technical level

- using detailed illustrations in a logo is bad, hard to print, hard to use at smaller sizes, less versatile ect.
- its oddly shaped and difficult to center, its almost certainly very difficult to work with as a designer. not good when there are so many applications you need to use it for.
- and having old country store as a random serif at the bottom is weird and dumb

they probably should have found a way to incorporate the old man as a brand mark in other versions

but people are letting nostalgia get the best of them.

Who gives a F about the damn Cracker Barrel logo. People need to touch grass, literally.

Giving Your Life To Christ In A Cracker Barrel Parking Lot Is Crazy

Need More Details On What Avengers Level Threat Lead To That Come To Jesus Moment.
Thought this was the craziest part too. Folks must’ve brought a dunk tank to Cracker Barrel and people were getting half off coupons if they came to God.

I know the ammosexuals look at this and say “so what, we can bomb them all” but they can throw a whole lot of people at us, they got nukes, and they build much, much faster than we do.

So, if you’re abandoning the Middle East to focus on the Asia-Pacific region to be the dominant power of the 21st century, it’s a terrible blunder to be the cause of their increasing cooperation.

Crazy, crazy stuff…

I'm also seeing weirdos who claim claim they're apart of this also being pro Doge
Sorry famb

Because of the great signature shoe and soup wars in the NBA thread I forgot about this.

In short the best way to learn about Abundance is reading Ezra Klein's and Derek Thompson's book. It is not that long. While detailed it is not rigorous so listening to the audio book will do.

Some takeaway takeaways:

-Liberal governance especially on the local and state level no matter how well intentioned is in a place where it doesn't effectively deliver important services to people. Housing, mass transit, green energy
-Overregulation and mandatory requirements for processes to get things done have made everything take way too long, and cost way too much
-Red states are building more housing and green energy that blue states, and for cheaper.
-Governments have outsourced a lot of their functions, and power, to outside groups. Consultants, environmental groups,. NGOs, etc.
-The reasoning for doing this at the time was again well intention, but it is clearly failing, so things need to change.
-Economic growth is important for the goal of social democracy

You should really read the book though. I have been reading these guys stuff when before they even decided to right the book so everything is kinda blending together in my mind.

Now

The reason you hear so much about it is because after its release, many progressives in the far left of the party took major issue with it.

I have read tons of articles criticizing the book, podcast, and interviews between the authors and far left pundits/people

-Pundits agree with nearly all the issues raised in the books
-The fault the book for not criticizing "money interest", or capitalism generally
-The fault the book for not offering solutions that attack moneyed interest
-The accuse the authors of being in bed with people on the right, that want to return the country to right-wing neoliberalism
-Against the idea of deregulation of any kind
-They are pissed at Ezra and Derek for pointing out that often times it is progressive aligned groups that are causing these failures
-And really offer no real alternatives to the issues raised in the book, because once again they low key concede the problems being called out are correct
-Attack the authors' character

The main friction is really with how Derek Thompson is pushing Abundance over Ezra. Ezra is more focused on governing (he is more narrow). Derek kinda sees it as a bigger framework that can be applied to politics generally to break voters out of the scarcity mindset. Because when voters are in that mindset, then right wing populist are at an advantage. But the progressive left see it as a threat to their political project and are attacking it. Especially since a lot of centrist, and center left pundits, policy wonks and politicians seems to really like it.

And yes, because some right wing dudes that don't like progressive politics would like to destroy it, they are championing "Abundance" in bad faith. So that is setting off progressives even more

But without all the other noise. Abundance is just a narrow and accurate critique of left wing governance
