Being ruthless against ideas and systems and kind to people is the way to go. Of course, it can be very hard to actually carry out.
Charlie Kirk promoted vile and disgusting ideas, and needed to be countered. (Challenge him to debate professors instead of freshmen, for example.
I’m not a universal pacifist, violence is a legitimate tool against oppression (and that includes people like Kirk whose job it was to promote and normalize oppression) but whenever other viable options exist, those must be employed.
Now, if, nay when, people on the broader left celebrate this, I won’t take much issue with it, especially if they were of the demographics that were in Kirk’s “intellectual” crosshairs. After all, we just recently talking about how we’d celebrate Trump’s natural death.
However; leadership, be it in the halls of power or in activist spaces, need to exercise our myriad of tools of resistance before we resort to violence.
Shooting Charlie Kirk didn’t make trans people or Black people safer, it only left a widow and innocent orphans in its wake.

On another note. The dude made a career out of selectively debating college kids and only posting the content where the other side wasn’t able to defend their stance. Anyone capable of picking apart his strawman arguments got edited out of the turning point footage.
All the people in that area today and the only person who was targeted was the one who openly promoted hate and ignorance like it was a badge of honor. Like if he decided to just be a regular person or use his platform to not talk about the stuff he did instead of going about things the way he did. Then his pronouns wouldn’t currently be was/were.
There’s people who make a career out of antagonizing and saying all types of hateful stuff, and I’m sure in their eyes they’re thinking they’ll never get touched, but it only has to happen once to where it makes no sense to piss people off like that. It’s not political related. But look at that Charleston white dude. Talking slick about peoples dead kids and saying all other types of out of pocket stuff and he probably thinks he’s untouchable when you really only have to get caught slipping once. Making enemies from saying hateful stuff just seems wild to me.

The political atmosphere is the way they are now because of people like him. I wholeheartedly agree, we normal people left or right just want to live our lives away from this hatred.
There are actors who divide and conquer to enrich themselves while degrading others, you couldnt have said it any better. Whether people not getting the opportunities or losing jobs, that sicko believes black and other POC don't deserve to have the same freedoms he does.
This takes it away from a "political" debate to a human one. People on the right framing this like the left are opposing his ideologies like he's someone profound with legitimate legislative reform or something is the reason why we're here.
He offers nothing but fuel for hate. Its not a political attack, if it is, then they are admitting that their entire party stands on resentment and division. And if that’s all they have, then what they’re defending isn’t freedom and free speech,it’s a grift that thrives on keeping people angry and afraid.

Honestly, I don't see what's so disgusting or disturbing about that. Plenty of people are probably finding some kind of grim comfort in it. Some are the ones he constantly discriminated against and persecuted, immigrants, LGBTQ folks, etc. , finally seeing some karmic justice. Others are noticing the irony, this pro gun guy complaining about people who are against guns dying from them. And some might even be feeling relief, knowing he got killed the same way he said it was okay for others to die for gun rights.
While his words might not have directly killed anyone, they almost certainly caused a ton of emotional and probably real, physical harm.
