Again, people think war is some knee jerk reaction. The numbers are crunched on all fronts, multiple times over, to see if it’s worth it and for how long it can be conducted. Before a single bullet is fired everything is accounted for.

The US went into this knowing the outcome and didn’t care. Bypassed congress, which would bend over for maga anyway, and continued. MAGA wanted to be Putin so bad, well, they got it.
