Panthers, Dolphins look to even record at 5-5
In Brief
» Last meeting: Ronnie Brown rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown to lead the Dolphins past the Panthers, 27-24, in Week 3 of the 2005 season.
» Streaks: Miami has won all three meetings between these teams.
» Last week: Carolina salvaged a season split with Atlanta by beating the Falcons, 28-19. ... Miami got a late field goal to earn a thrilling 25-23 win over Tampa Bay.
Keep your eye on ...
Lex Hilliard's role: Ronnie Brown is unlikely to play after suffering a knee injury on Sunday, and that means the rookie running back could see his first extended action of the season. Ricky Williams will undoubtedly be the featured back, but the Dolphins like to share the rushing load, so Hilliard may play a big part in their game plan.
Joey Porter's status: Miami's outspoken linebacker was back at practice Monday after missing Sunday's game against the Bucs and he could be a huge factor vs. the Panthers. Carolina QB Jake Delhomme has taken better care of the ball in recent weeks, but he is still prone to turnovers and if Porter can get some pressure on him, Delhomme may return to his old ways.
Carolina's dynamic backfield duo: DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart have hit their stride over the past few weeks after a slow start. The Dolphins have the seventh-best run defense in the league, but the Panthers have found their identity as a power running team and will not stray from that philosophy.
Did you know?
This will be only Miami's second trip to Carolina. The Dolphins won the first meeting, 13-9, in 1998. ... The Panthers are 10-2 in their last 12 regular-season home games. ... Three of Carolina's next four games are against AFC East opponents.
