MIAMI DOLPHINS Vs CAROLINA PANTHERS

BANK OF AMERICA STADIUM

8:00PM EST

NFL NETWORK / DIRECTv CH 212

Panthers, Dolphins look to even record at 5-5
In Brief

» Last meeting: Ronnie Brown rushed for 132 yards and a touchdown to lead the Dolphins past the Panthers, 27-24, in Week 3 of the 2005 season.
» Streaks: Miami has won all three meetings between these teams.
» Last week: Carolina salvaged a season split with Atlanta by beating the Falcons, 28-19. ... Miami got a late field goal to earn a thrilling 25-23 win over Tampa Bay.

Keep your eye on ...
Lex Hilliard's role: Ronnie Brown is unlikely to play after suffering a knee injury on Sunday, and that means the rookie running back could see his first extended action of the season. Ricky Williams will undoubtedly be the featured back, but the Dolphins like to share the rushing load, so Hilliard may play a big part in their game plan.

Joey Porter's status: Miami's outspoken linebacker was back at practice Monday after missing Sunday's game against the Bucs and he could be a huge factor vs. the Panthers. Carolina QB Jake Delhomme has taken better care of the ball in recent weeks, but he is still prone to turnovers and if Porter can get some pressure on him, Delhomme may return to his old ways.

Carolina's dynamic backfield duo: DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart have hit their stride over the past few weeks after a slow start. The Dolphins have the seventh-best run defense in the league, but the Panthers have found their identity as a power running team and will not stray from that philosophy.
Did you know?

This will be only Miami's second trip to Carolina. The Dolphins won the first meeting, 13-9, in 1998. ... The Panthers are 10-2 in their last 12 regular-season home games. ... Three of Carolina's next four games are against AFC East opponents.

If Joey Porter plays, we lose.

Sucks big time not havin Ronnie out there. That'll shut down the wildcat pretty much. Ricky can only run a couple plays here and there in that formation. Could mean more time for Pat White though. KLJ will be happy.

We need this one. Bad. Someone tell Jake this is a big game, that might help us.

That whole NFL Network commercial for this game is based on Ronnie Brown so they probably need to take that off

Ronnie placed on IR.........out for the season

The only good thing I can take from this is now they wont pull Henne when he starts getting it going for a WC play.......That drove me nuts

Ronnie done for the year?!!!!!!!??? NOOOOOOOOO.

Its a wrap for the Phins... he makes that offense run.

Ronnie Brown hurt again? for the season again? damn man....tough tough break

Those Auburn guys (Cadillac and Ronnie) just can't stay healthy

Are they going to have Ricky Williams run it full-time now? Is this going to open up more PT for Pat White?

I hope Jake watched Jay last Thursday night. That's our best chance.

Ricky with one last hurrah to his career. Hope he's ready.

The Wildcat is basically done. Ricky can only run a couple of plays out of it. 3-4 tops. Ronnie being left handed and going away from Ricky's motion inbehind Jake Long AND with the small threat of throwing going left was a key to spreading out the D. If Ricky runs it, he can't run left, there will be nopass threat at all.

But, maybe Pat White will get more time.

Joey Porter is playing.

I know "Peezy" hasn't done anything this season but you have to remember he has 2 nagging injuries he's been playing through ALL season long. The hammy alone, as we know as sports fans, is a @$+@% to play through when it's injured. The 2nd injury is a knee injury. As a pass rusher, your knees andhammy are one, if not the most important parts of your body that you need to be an effective pass rusher.

With that said, I dont think he should be a Fin next season because Wake's the truth and he's time has come

I'm not just talkin about rushin the passer though. I know injuries slow a guy down, but that's not my problem with him. Unless those injuries areslowin down his brain, he's dumb. Plain and simple, stupid. I'm tired of watchin him chase after the QB on an OBVIOUS screen play where he allows theback to slip right on by him and into the open field with blockers.

Or maybe him running off at the mouth before a game, then doing NOTHING in the game. That's not smart.

I'm just done with the guy. He was a bust year one. Played great last year, and now he's back to a bust again. Maybe it's the way the D is setup. His first year with JT he couldn't get anything done, then JT left and he went wild, now JT is back and he's back to worthless. Dunno if theyaren't scheming for him or what it is, but he's garbage. And when Wake steps on the field, 2 seconds later he's near the QB and at least makingeffort to make a play. And last week it was Anderson, and that guy was goin hog wild. I can't remember a single play this year that Porter has made thatwas "big" Taylor, Wake, and Anderson have all made a few.

I cant argue with anything you just said because I also get frustrated w/his mouth n play. I do think though, his injuries has messed with his psyche

Whats the story with Deangelo and J Stewart? I saw they were both listed as questionable....I know they held them out of practice most of the week because itsa short week, but anyone hear/know status?

Dolphins' Inactives for tonight are: Thigpen, Soliai, Dotson, Walden, Ness, Gardner, Fasano, Murtha. WR Patrick Turner is active

If Joey Porter plays, we lose

Still so happy the Steelers didn't resign him. But in all honesty, he was a HUGE part of that playoff run in 05, so I have to like him for that. Butstill, he can rush the QB.....um and I'm sure there is something else he can do, but that's all I can think of
