Ehh I don't know how much you can look at just the results. The way the results came about should say something as well.
-2010 WC qualifying wasn't the best. (We Qualified, what else matters?)
Process vs results.
-Advanced in 09 Confed Cup due to luck/coincidence IIRC
(We beat Egypt 3-0, Italy lost to Brazil 3-0 - was that luck? Yes. But we HAD to win by 3 goals...and did - that's not luck)
It just always seems that in a tournament we always have to hope
and pray for another team to help us out. It seems that we never control the situation, and when we do we lose and then have to hope that another team loses so we can move on to the next
round. I believe we went 2-3 in that tournament.
-WC 2010 gave up early goals in i wanna say 3 outta 4 games they played, and this also happened throughout WC qualifiers as well. It seems BB never had his team prepared to come out and play from the jump. So aggravating.
(True...and that's very frustrating and reflects on a lot of issues, not just coaching....but we WON our group...again..what else matters??)
Yeah we won the group due to a
horrific blunder by England's goalkeeper. Then what happened in the round of 16, we had a terrific draw but played like baby poo against Ghana. It starts with the coach.
-His squad selections and game day team selections alone should have him on the hot seat. How in the world does he expect his team to have any possession
at all when he constantly puts what seems to be 2 defensive mids in the center midfield. Players (Torres comes to mind) get pulled after playing 1 good game then 1 half of a bad game and then don't see them again while players like klejistan and bornstein continually get called up and playing time when they do absolutely nothing positive on the field.
(I take it you didn't see how bad Torres was in our 2nd WC game vs. Slovina? He looked awful. Should he still be called in? Yes, but let's not pretend like he's the answer. I'll take Holden, Benny, Jones, Edu, and Mix all over Torres. I can't stand Bornstien and I won't defend him, he shouldn't be on the Nats. The only "fireable" offensive roster wise I've seen Bob make is continually starting Rico Clark...it still pisses me off just thinking about it.)
So Torres was bad against Slovenia, I happen to think he was ok and say MB left him out to dry. But he got yanked after 45 minutes. In the little that I have seen him play with the USMNT he's been one of the few guys who was able to be confident on the ball allowing us to keep possesion. How do we know he's not the answer he's been given no chance. The
fact that Ricardo Clark continued to start and play heavy minutes when his play was GODAWFUL says it all. God forbid BB let others play besides his son and see how that works out.
-He continues in failing to make in game changes when it's obviously necessary and the tactics of the US team leave alot to be desired. Hmmmm lets see. Launch
a 40-60 yard pass in the air hope a forward beats the 2 people that are on him or gets fouled so that Landon can take a free kick and hopefully we can score on a header
or a loose ball situation where someone pokes it in. It seems that that is how at least 80% of the US goals are scored. (That's not true...usually as the game goes on and we need a goal (which happens often) he'll move Clint up and bring on an extra "attackin" mid see Benny during the WC)
That seems to be the only move BB knows how to make. IMO he makes the moves to late and with the wrong personnel. Like instead of subbing around the 60th-65th minute he will wait until
the 70th-75th minute which doesn't allow for the incoming subs to make any kind of mark on the match.
Either way I just wanna see the USMNT start to play better and I just can't see that happening with BB at the helm.
