So you were all probably wondering why Webber wasn't dressed to play today (on second thought, you had probably forgotten he still plays for us...). It wasn't Nellie's call, that's for sure. No, Nellie loves the CWebb experiment too much to give up on it already. What happened, rather, was that Webber was busy getting some lovin' back in his hotel room and showed up late. That's right! Some background...
My friend works as a valet at the Claremont hotel, which for those of you that don't know is the only real 5-star hotel this side of the city. It's up in the hills at the Oakland/Berkeley border, has a view of the bay, and is pretty much home to anyone famous making it through the East Bay (and often through SF, for that matter). My buddy has parked cars for JRich, Chris Rock, Clint Eastwood, Gandolfini... $+%+, even the president of Vietnam came through once. Anyway, the next day after the CWebb trade went public, my friend tells me that he parked CWebb's car, and that he just checked in to the nicest master suite for 3 months (rest of the season).
Fast forward 5 days, past the so called "training camp", and the not-so-impressive debut against the Bulls. Never mind the loss, Webber comes back later that night with 3 girls, and racks up a $1500 tab in room-service and drinks. Alright, fine, I guess an NBA player gets to enjoy luxury even when he has a %%!!+% night on the court. Fair game. But hear this one out. So my friend calls me up today at 5:30, and tells me that CWebb pulled in a couple hours earlier with this young girl, and about 5 shopping bags full of clothes. Then he tells me that CWebb just came rushing out of the front door of the hotel asking for his car, his shirt undone, and sweating like Nellie was about to give him an $++-whooping. That's right. CWebb left for the game at 5:25.
Now I hate to pry into a man's personal life, and dude has every right to go spend money on a girl and then take her to his luxury suite and rail her (she was white by the way... that's right, I asked), but what's up with leaving for the game 35 minutes before tip-off? For a team that just signed you? For a coach that is trying to make you look good by starting you? I really think CWebb has no interest in playing, let alone winning. If these anecdotes tell me anything, it's that he likes to spend his cash, likes the idea of getting another 1/2 million to live it up a little, and really has no respect for the kind of favor Nellie has done him. $+%+, his attitude even makes me think that perhaps he sees himself as the big dawg on the team or something. $50 Nellie find out about his hijinks soon and tells him to not bother getting dressed.
This reply got me.Go to see C-Web still has a scorers mentality.....he just needs to do more of it on the court!
Chris Webber was inactive for the Warriors after recording eight points and 10 rebounds in his first three games back with the team. Nelson said he would have played Webber if O'Neal had played but didn't think Webber could handle the fast pace of this game.
