What the heck is there to do in Portland other than work and play ball at 24 Fitness?

Just get Directv. Only games we get are the ones the networks think we would wanna see. This place is suppose to be where skins fans meet and watch the games. Never been there though.

I went to the 24 in Beaverton today off of Cedar Hills .... I think I hit the Jackpot... it has WAAAAY more women than the Pearl...!!!! Nick you guys need to check THAT one out....

I am still contemplating Blazer Tickets.. I might have to get a pair for wifey too. She wants to get out. I have to get her membership to 24 tomorrow.

Do chicks work out at the Bo? I heard some folks ball there, but not alot of traffic after hours... not sure.. haven't checked.. plus I hear its WAY more expensive than 24...

How does that make sense where you get a discount at 24 that is LESS than the Bo? Weird...

Depending on what type of things you like to do, there is plenty of stuff to do in the area. I'm not sure exactly what kind of activities you are looking for, but if you like the city life then Portland is just down the highway (obviously you know if you ball in the Pearl). Plenty of places to shop, from Lloyd to Pioneer Square to NW 23rd. As far as urban shops go, there's Just Be and Lifted, Cal's Pharmacy for skate @#%$. Walk through the Pearl on First Thursdays and there's lots of stuff to see and people to meet.

You're going to enjoy Oregon more if you are into outdoor activities, cause that's what the area is like; mad spots to hike, mountain bike, go camping, etc. Don't know if your into snowboarding but I'll be starting that back up once the season hits, and the drive to the coast is beautiful in the right weather. Rains all-year round, it could be the hottest week of the summer and the next week it wil be pouring but that's just how it is around here. Coast is an hour and a half drive down 26, go down to Florence and ride ATV's on the sand dunes. Lots of bicyclists in Oregon, and plenty of runners too.

So yeah, working, hitting up the gym, bar scene downtown if that's your thing, tons of places to shop and eat, strip clubs, Mt Bachelor is a nice winter spot to the east, Seattle is just up I-5. Most of the people are generally pretty friendly and if you work on campus, you shouldn't have a hard time finding people to ball with. There's always night ball going on at Tualatin Rec (right off of Walker across from Fred Meyer), and yeah, it's messed up how we get a cheaper discount at an outside gym instead of our own Fitness Centers, but whatever (I'm on a $24/month at 24 Hour too.)

I got nothing but good to say about the area, but then again I was born and raised here so I'm used to the more "outdoors" lifestyle. Obviously you'll get more out of it if those are the kinds of things you like to do, but there's other stuff also, just need to know where to look. Plenty of resources through work will be able to show you what's out there to do, time to start networking.

And yeah, this forum is dead most of the time. Enjoy work.

Thanks Andradas... you just made me a little sad..... as I am a city dude from the DC area....and the Great Outdoors isn't my thing.. but it is my girls thing... so at least I know I can send her places on the weekends or such.

I have gone out some when visiting here before, but didn't see much as far as SITES (females) but I think that is changing with finding some new spots (Cedar Hills 24) (Aura) lol..

So it's a good thing I know alot of folks on campus and plenty from back home... so they are hippin me to some spots to go and frequent when I do choose to hang.

I do think DirectTV is about to become my best friend and being more of a Family guy will obviously start to be my thing as well.

Life in Oregon Now = Work Gym Family........Wow.. I am goin to miss DC something serious! lol
