Original ECW Thread

My opinion...

But Raven was a waste of space in ECW.

He never really entertained me.

Meh.

Van Terminator!
It was so great finding ECW on Public Access 48 at like 1am on a Friday night when I was in high school.

Same way I found it 4w.  It also came on Saturdays at like 1.

I got to the ECW arena a couple of times and it was unlike any wrestling venue ever.  It was intimate in the sense that if a chant was started...say "Bubba sucks $$%$"...everybody heard it and went along.  Unlike a large venue where only a certain section may start a chant.

anybody happen to watch the dvd "the rise and fall of ecw"? in the middle of watching it right now and it's

EASILY wwe's best documentary dvd.

just finished HBKs new one "my journey" and it's pretty decent. it's missing:

vs. mankind @ "mind games" - they talk about it briefly, though

vs. undertaker @ 1st hell in a cell

vs. ric flair @ wrestlemania - show a match b/w the 2 @ badd blood

vs. cena @ wrestlemania

I stumbled on ECW at a young age. I would watch The Howard Stern show saturday nights after MadTV because it was the closest I would have ever gotten at the time to seeing boobs. Well one night after stern which was about 1 am I decided to get a glass of water and I came back to wrestling on. I

at the fact that wrestling was on. From that night on I was hooked. Eventhough the show was mostly promo for the PPV they were hyping it was piff.

Man, being a kid was awesome.

But I wish I could have attended a real ECW card. As others have mentioned, I have been to a WWECW card and I was not impressed at all. I wasn't able to watch WATCH it until it hit TNA and around that time it used to come on the Sunshine Network (DirecTV baby

) and this was around the time that WCW was getting weak to me. So ECW was all that I loved for besides me catching some foreign goodness.

But I loved WCW but ECW definitely had a place in my heart. Fans so respectful and knowledgeable and they really made the show what it was.

Here is a list of the Top 50 ECW matches in the 90s according to Death Valley Driver Video - http://www.deathvalleydri...estof90s/ecwresults.html

Then Shane McMahon jacked it and used it as his own before RVD got to debut it to the WWE mass.

Former ECW champ Mike Awesome passes away

Mike Alfonso, better known as Mike Awesome, was found dead on Saturday evening in the Tampa area according to those close to the family. He was 42.

Friends were coming to his home in Tampa to pick him up and go out Saturday night at about 10:30 p.m. and he never answered the door and found him hanging in the home. It is believed the death was due to suicide pending results of the autopsy.

Mike Awesome was one of the top foreign stars in FMW in Japan, who as a high-flying big man was made ECW champion on two occasions in 1999 and 2000. As champion, he signed with WCW, creating a situation that many feel ended up killing the title as Tazz from WWF was brought back to ECW to win the title, yet at the same time the title was jobbed in WWF.

I used to stay up to watch it. It usually came on like 1 in the morning.

LOL Van Terminator was the 2nd incarnation so to speak of the Van Daminator. I remember it being so hyped...Joey would mention/scream about RVD having some new move in the works and RVD would keep it secret and then one night, he finally did it. And i cant forget how after every finisher, RVD looked like he was dead inside.

at 5:30...i only saw this in clips, but hot damn.

def the best years of ecw mrtamericanjr.

went to a few shows in the original arena in 98-2000. you saw some hardcore fans there tailgating. i would be with a group of 12 and we would have 4 tickets. we would have a few go in, then come back and bring the ticket stub outside til all of us got inside. saw shane douglas in the gas station across the street. thought it was some fan with the fanny pack but my boy yells, "FRANCHISE!!!!"

also went to the sports bar where they would go after the shows in south philly. dudley boyz and axl rotten always had ringrats around them. also went to a smaller venue show that had rvd vs chris jericho and blood on me thanks to jt smith, hahahha.

ahhh, the real ecw.
