Just wondering if anyone lives in this city here on NT.

Just wondering how it is living there because I'm considering moving out there for a job. I know that the city is in the San Gabriel valley and thatit's about a hour from LA and Socal and it's 2 and a half hours from my home town in San Diego.

Unfortunately right now jobs are tough to come by in Cali and this is like the only job that's available right now with my company.

i had lived there almost my whole life. if you have a family, pretty cool because you can go play outside without worrying about traffic or any lunatics. ifyou are moving here just yourself, gets pretty boring. if you are not into far driving, your going to hate it since, like you said, SD is 2.5 hours, SGV is anhour, San Fernando is 30-45 minutes. if you dont mind the drive, it is a pretty great place to work. Where exactly are you planning to move to?

dont do it !! ... its pretty boring.. sdubl actually lives out here to... but its whatever no major attractions or anything... and the 14 is a drag.. boring asF'ing freeway.. if its for a job ehh.. i guess.. theres a few more people from palmdale here but as long as ive been on the board even before i wasactually registered sdubl was the only other person on here from palmdale..

Sup Kidskillz.

You're saying Palmdale is in SAN GABRIEL VALLEY? If so I think you have your valleys mixed up

Btw, don't do it - Palmdale is horrrible.

If you have other options, don't do it. Unless this job is paying big $$$, its probably not worth it. I lived in Palmdale 3rd grade through high school.Moved out of my parents house for 5 years for college and now I'm back. and Palmdale is Antelope Valley, not San Gabriel Valley.

-Like xInVaSiAn661x said, AV is 30 minutes away Santa Clarita where i work, 45 minutes from San Fernando Valley, and so on.

-Weather sucks. Summers are scorchers, today it was 104 plus degrees. Winters are cold, especially nights and mornings. It does snow once every 3-4 years orso. And let me tell you, if you have allergies, its sucks even more. Pollen, dust, etc. Remember Palmdale is a desert.

-In terms of race, I saw you have an even split among whites, blacks and hispanics. Not so many Asians, I'm Filipino.

-There is no nightlife out here. I don't know how old you are, if you're married, kids, etc. No clubs or bars really. If you wanna have a drink, youcould hit up a restaurant that has a bar, i.e. BJ's.

-The thing that bugs me the most is all the ignorant kids and fake gangsters you got out here. Stupid kids who talk stupid and act stupid.

If you have any specific questions, ask away.

pretty much sums it up...

not too bad though. Rent/Houses are cheaper out here than the valley, and its not really too far from LA/The Valley/SD etc...we do have Dry Town

Thanks for the info guys.

I work for Lockheed Martin and right now on our internal job database there is only 19 jobs available right now in Cali out of those 19 jobs I qualify for 4 ofthem. The job I'm trying to get pays pretty well. I'm just in a position right now where I took a job and moved out to Germany 4 months ago and the jobI'm doing now is not working out for me and I need to get back to SD or Cali to have some family and friends around me. Germany is nice but working for theUS Army really SUCKS.

If I do land the job in Palmdale I figure I'd be at the job for 1 or 2 years then look to head back to SD or move somewhere in LA or Socal after my job inPlalmdale was done. I'm single & filipino and most of my cousins are in West Covina, Mission Viejo, my parents are in SD and my sister is in Vegas. Soif I took the job I'd be spending my weekends in SD or with my cousins in Socal and might head up to Las Vegas once in awhile.

Palmdale is not in the San Gabriel Valley. It's not even in the San Fernando Valley. The only thing they had going out there was the LACR race track.

Over the last 10 years or so people moved out there from L.A. because of the cheaper house market. And like stated, it's filled with lower class folks nowand a lot of 'gangsters'.

I was going to take a job from Lockheed Martin as well in environmental safety. I found out it was out in Palmdale so I opted out.

^^^LACR closed....the drag strip anyway. Motorcycly track is still there.

Yes, I know. That's why I said 'the only thing they had going out there was' and not is.

i would usually try to stay away from resurrecting a thread as old as this, but i don't really care to start a new one
so..

i'm coming home to my parents house after I graduate from college this month
i grew up in los angeles but they just moved out to the dale about a year ago

i'm wondering if any of you know of good indoor spots to hoop at?
the times I've come home for winter break, etc. there haven't been any open rec centers, school gyms, etc.
playing outdoors is better than nothing, but I'd really like to know if there are any indoor facilities for pick-up games/competitive league play in the area

palmdale, lancaster, quartz hill, anywhere within 20 minutes of Rancho Vista really
