Paperback, Hardcover or E Book?

Paperback, hardcover, or E-Book?  Does it matter? If it does why?

for school textbooks, go with paperback and ebook
for personal books, i go with hardcover since i'm going to keep it

It fits in my satchel without being to heavy or bulky, good for train and bus rides or coffee shops

THIS, although if i've found used Hardcovers for $0.01  I usually cop them if their first run books or more expensive books.

More convenient for me.

I like hard copies of the book for textbooks though.

Anyone ever meet a book "elitist" that only buys hardcover? 

The thing with me is I HATE how delicate dust jackets are, and how easy they may get lost. But some people think the dust jacket is integral to book collectors and elite book readers. I've had people on the train literally turn their nose up and say "paperback is like nails on a chalk board, it makes the book suck" ...as if the information inside is any different.

personally, i prefer hardcover for leisure reading. there are some things that i like to be traditional.
texbooks, on the other hand, i'd rather have a pdf file.
